Blackcats just keep winning. Happy for these players and coaches who stuck with this program when everyone else was jumping ship.

Congratulations on 3-0.

Hager was cool and levelheaded. Some good coaching out of the young gun. Are the Blackcats the real deal? Good game out of Hager and company.

The real deal? Eh. I think that’s yet to be determined. I think the big thing is they are 3-0 when most people had them penciled in at 1-2. They find ways to win. As long as they do that, it doesn’t have to be pretty. The one thing I noticed is the amount of energy the coaching staff brings to the sideline. It’s contagious. You can tell these kids are just having fun. That makes a big difference. I love what Hager and crew have going right now.

What do you mean by real deal? As in a contender this year? No. However, this could be the building blocks of something going forward.

I completely agree about the sideline. I've not seen this amount of spirt in Pburg in a long time. I love seeing it from the field to the stands.

Watched the replay of the lateral that went for a P-burg TD. I think it’s a forward pass and I’m convinced that the kid that made the heads up play was down when he took possession of the ball. Credit to him for playing until the whistle blows.

I'm just shooting for Pburg to return to former glory. I believe they will compete for district this year. I also believe they might just get what they've been craving for a year. A win over the Bobcats

Love my Tigers but this was the sloppiest I have seen them play since Pre-Chirico. Ugly is too nice of a word.

I don’t even know who is in their district but, no offense, they are not close to the top 5 2A programs currently. Rome wasn’t built in a day. Just keep winning.

There’s a crap ton of talent there. I was really impressed with how strong and shifty the skill positions are. Tough to bring down. A lot to be excited about there.

He was down 100%. Was a very bad play call by Paintsville in that situation.

talent and 50 cents would buy you a cup of coffee back in my day. Our talent couldn’t overcome the countless mistakes- pre snap penalties, delay of games (coach), bad snaps out of gun, you name it.

Defense gave up 2 scores and we lost.

Who was the Prestonsburg coach who was penalized at halftime for his temper tantrum?
#15
Prestonsburg just found a way to win the game. It wasn’t always pretty, they could’ve laid down, but they just kept fighting and never showed any signs of giving up. Hats off to those boys and coaching staff.

The final touchdown drive lead by Colin Hatfield was some great football from Prestonsburg. This teams bread and butter is under center in the flex and wishbone. Blackcats have a stable of running backs and line that’s getting better and more confident.

Defense is what it is. They missed a lot of tackles, made mistakes, but they played hard and stayed after it and created two Paintsville turnovers.

Paintsville is good. Johnson & Lauffer are absolute studs and excellent playmakers. Their offensive line is solid and their receivers block well. Was surprised at how much jawing and unsportsmanlike penalties they had. Surprised that staff allowed that much to go on.

Great football game. Rivalries are fun.

Great night to be a Blackcat!

Lack of leadership and accountability. Hard to make kids sit the bench though when you only field maybe 35 kids…

You only need 11

Did Paintsville go for two at the end or did they miss an extra point somewhere along the way?

With just over a minute to go in the 3rd quarter, Paintsville scored a touchdown to extend a 14-13 lead to 20-13.  After the touchdown catch, Paintsville's receiver spinned the ball on the turf which led to a penalty.  The Tigers missed the extra point.

Pump the breaks on how good Pburg is. Glad to see them winning and moving in a good direction, but they just barely beat a Paintsville team that got rolled by Paris who just got rolled by Hazard. Paintsville has looked rough in the last two games. Lot of mistakes, penalties, bad snaps, turnovers, etc. someone said they looked like pre-Chirico Paintsville teams…very accurate description.

Haven’t seen anyone pumping Prestonsburg up to be something they’re not. In fact, almost everyone in the preseason expected this to be a bad team, they’ve done nothing but exceed expectations.

Facts are, Paintsville had a size advantage last night, more experience in the trenches, just as much speed at the skill positions if not more, and Prestonsburg still found a way to win. It’s a good win especially for the program to get the Paintsville monkey off their back.

The Blackcats HAVE to get better if they want to win their district and win a playoff game or two, however you have to also love the heart and determination of this team to win two close games where they trailed in the 4th quarter. Speaks volumes to me.

Pburg players are playing hard for the new HC, that’s all anyone should be concerned with at this time. I’m not saying Paintsville didn’t play hard, but the type of mistakes and volume of them is alarming. We shouldn’t have pre snap penalties and countless bad snaps week 3. IMO, Paintsville gave P-Burg opportunities to make this about a 3 score game.

It’s going to be a long year at Paintsville. There’s only one, maybe two more wins left on our schedule. Our crowd was dead last night also. Not a good night for Paintsville.

2 Big Defensive stands for the Blackcats at the end, to win the Leslie Co game and the Paintsville Game!

I’m an old school of 4 yards and a cloud of dust, but the Blackcats really need to develop their passing game. In the trenches P-burg was outsized, but acquitted themselves well. A big improvement over the two previous weeks. The defensive submarine attack at various times through the night helped keep the Tiger front off balance and slowed them reaching linebackers. The Tiger running backs were outstanding, but constantly shot themselves in the foot with trash talk and taunting. Also Paintsville needs a better method of getting plays called. A lot of delay of game penalties and lots of others that weren’t called. I’ll take a win anyway I can get it. Kinda disappointed that the Tiger fans in attendance didn’t thank the Blackcats for their state championship from a few years back.

The lack of a passing game isn’t a big issue right now, but there’s going to come a point that it will be. I know Hager has said in a few interviews he believes they can be good at multiple things, but right now the Blackcats are good under center in the flex and wishbone. It only makes sense to build off those formations and figure out ways to hit on some quick passes and taking an occasional shot.

I forget, how many of those transfers played jv or varsity for P-Burg?
#29
Zero. They all transferred for their freshman year at Paintsville to avoid playing for the staff at Prestonsburg.

I forget, how many of those transfers played 6 years of tackle football in the Prestonsburg feeder programs?

Puff your chest out for that title, you earned it.

Take a knee though. This is gonna hurt a little.

That championship winning coach is NEVER coming back to Paintsville. You have a coaching staff that is clearly in over their heads. Congrats again on that title though. Lord knows I wish PBurg had it.
