Bullitt East 28 Mercer County 14
#1
Baughman and Drakeford for Mercer County are both really good football players.  Mercer has some other good players as well, but Bullitt East just had too much for them.  Bullitt East's defense really only responsible for 7 points scored by Mercer.  Bullitt East fumbled the opening kickoff to start the game and gave Mercer a very short field.  Bullitt East moved the ball on the ground pretty well, but made way too many mental errors.  As they say, win the ones you are supposed to.  But the Chargers have a good bit of work to do.

Both teams with a lot to clean up and hope to improve each week. Mercer had over 15 penalties for 99 yards. Mercerthe ball inside the BE 10 yard line twice without any points. I thought BE had a really good defense. They tackle and get to the ball really well.

Very evenly matched units, as stated Mercer had opportunities. Really impressed with Baughman in this one. Drakeford has some heart.

Don't think I see them as evenly matched as you. If they play ten times I think BE wins 9. But it's just an opinion. I also thought Baughman was impressive and Drakeford is a tough nut.

Biggest difference in the two teams were depth and numbers. Most of Mercer's players go both ways and only have about 32 players dressing. Game was 21-14 late in the 3rd quarter. Mercer had it inside the 10 twice and couldn't punch it in. Give credit to BE as they have a great defense. Mercer probably had the better skill guys and have some good lineman just got worn down by a good 6A team. Mercer got a stop early in 4th quarter still own by 7 and very short punt hit Mercer player in the back giving the ball back to BE after a stop. BE is a good team and well coached. Will be interesting to see how they do against other 6A teams on their schedule.
