Per ESPN (and as mentioned during the Kentucky/A&M broadcast), Alabama has extended Nate Oats pending approval from the school's Board of Trustees. The deal would make Oats one of the top five highest paid coaches in the nation.
In February 2023, 'Bama had extended Oats until 2029 at $4.5 million per. There's probably more than one high profile job that would have taken a look at Oats, but he had been reported to have Michigan's interest after they'd fired Juwan Howard.
Thought that the timing of this one might be interesting given the retirement of Nick Saban and the figures that they'd be paying both coaches, especially if anything were to go sideways with DeBoer and the school was forced to buy him out. I'd imagine that Oats' new deal includes a much higher buyout should anyone else try to hire him away from the Tide.
