College Basketball: Charges
#1
Is it just me, or is college basketball getting ridiculous in the fact that if an offensive player makes contact to a defender, the defender flops over and they call a charge? The defender doesn't even have to be set anymore.

Am I wrong?

I agree there are a lot of 'flop' charges, but I think in general the offensive players get way more than their share of the calls. It seems like all the time they call a foul on the defensive player, when the offensive player actually initiates the contact by jumping into him when going up for the shot. There should be a lot more no-calls than there actually are, just let them play.

What? With plays like this, you have to protect the defense and call the charge. Smile

I love the rule of the charge but it is more of a judgment call for the refs and I would like to see it become more consistent across the league.

Funny thing is, with the way the refs call it now, I'm surprised that they didn't call a charge, and if he had shot the ball, i can almost guarantee that they would have called a charge, even if that little contact was made.
