Boyd County 73 Ashland 67
#1
Final from Ashland. Looks like as of now Boyd is the top team in the 16th.

Both teams are pretty daggone even. Boyd's first quarter was fantastic, and hard to tell what the game would've been like if they hadn't jumped out like they did. B/c Ashland definitely clawed back and fought. Lalonde going out for Ashland hurt their long range threat.  Cole Hicks was a dude for Boyd. Round 2 is going to be fun.

BTW I was wrong, the "coach" wasn't on the bench after all for Boyd  Big Grin

Good win on the road for Boyd.  I’m not going to say Spurlock was not a factor but Ashland did a great job keeping him in check. Hicks and Ellis stepped up big time offensively for this game. Rest of supporting cast did their part too on both offense and defense. Lalonde injury really limited Ashland’s offensive options but they did have a couple of others step up. So today anyway, Boyd is undisputed King of 16th region.

Asher Adkins stepped up nicely for Ashland. Spurlock was kept in check, until they figured out he needed to take it to the rack. Then he got Carter in foul trouble, and was able to score from the free throw line.
Overall was a great game, but not sure it really "proves" anything.

That locks up the #1 seed in the district for Boyd, but not that it really matters with Fairview and Rose Hill as the other. They very well may play 3 more times.

Boyd has proved they can beat the Tomcats, just have to do it when it matters now.

Yes when the game don’t matter the last 2 years.  But my question is does Boyd players and its staff have it between the ears?  I will answer and I believe NO to much I on that team and they will self destruct. The worst thing that happened for Boyd was putting the DAD on the bench.  Never works out well. But we shall see.

To beat either one of these teams, you will have to catch them on a bad night and have one of your best nights.
