I was going to nominate Bart, but I didnt know if this thread was just between those two. Bart took a team that was at the bottom of the barrel in the 15th to a regional runner up in two years. Also, preseason ranked number 3 in the region his third year. I think that pretty much speaks for itself.

Raymond Justice is one of the best coaches in the state and mountains so if its between him and whoever the other guy is, he wins hands down.....

I agree Raymond Justice is a great coach I can remember him when he coached at Belfry...

Both are good coaches, but R. Justice has 3 consectutive regional titles with Belfry in the early 90's. Most coaches dream of that their whole life!

All of the coaches are good, otherwise they wouldn't be coaching, now would they?

I think Tim Riley from Warren Central has to be mentioned on this thread. His team has won the 4th region 6 years in a row. He has won 1 state championship, played in 3 finals and made the semifinals 5 ot of the last 6 years. Pretty impressive numbers.

Bart Williams has to be nominated after taking a Pikeville team that was headed nowhere and resurging the program over the last few years

I realize that, but I think the thread is about who is the best coach between R. Justice from LCC and B. Johnson from Jenkins.
Bill Mike is probalby the best coach in the mountains.

With all due respect, I think you may want to rethink this one.
I know Bill Mike Runyon
I have seen Bill Mike Runyon win the sweet 16
Bill Mike Runyon is a future KHSAA hall of famer
My Friend, Randy Anderson is no Bill Mike Runyon!

I'm with you, I think he could win a regional title if he can rebuild the team. He has done good in the past 4 years though..

you may be right, but what has he done with less talent? Anybody could have went to lexington in 96' with the talent he had and come away with the trophy. Especially after J.R. graduated, the success has not been hall of fame worthy. theres no doubt he's a good coach, but dont make him jon wooden just yet

Nobody is making him out to be Jon Wooden. Besides the 7 regional trophies he has won, 4 final Fours, a runner-up, a state title, he has won over 500 games and I think is getting close to the 600 mark, not really sure. He has averaged over 20 wins a season during his time there. Everyone can agree that it is pretty good for such a small school like Paintsville, that has a limited number of people to pick from, to do so well over his time there. Also, no one has told me who Randy Anderson is. Who is he? Is he still coaching?

I"m not comparing him to John Wooden, but he is the closest thing the 15th region or East Ky has got to him (with the exception of maybe Bobby Keith from Clay Co.) If I'm not mistaken he has won at least 2 (maybe 3) all A regional titles since J.R. left & been inches away from the 15th regional title on at least two ocassions. And, he is a sure bet for the KHSAA hall of fame.
