Blake Birchfield being second team offensive RB may be on of the craziest things I’ve ever seen in my life.
If you need any assistance or want to report a problem feel free to PM me and we will get it taken care of!  Thank you for choosing to be apart of the BGR community!

Totally agree. He should definitely be 1st Team. Something equally puzzling is how QB Logan Lundy of Raceland doesn't even make Honorable Mention All-State with the season he had.

Makes you wonder about the voting sometimes. I also think with as many good players across the state, there should be 2-3 players at each position on 1st, 2nd, & 3rd Team All-State since they aren't separated by class.

Not even an Honorable Mention...

Some names that are missing that I should been mentioned are:

Sage Dawson - Boyle
Brody Wells - Corbin
Kid Elam - Corbin
Kaden Mooreman - Franklin County
Thomas Howard - Fredrick Douglas

These kids were just different. Some good players on the list but I know these 5 were elite players for our state.

Sage Dawson made it HM DB.

A lot of times if a player isn’t on the list it’s because their head coach didn’t send an email/text out asking other coaches to vote for him. I can verify that’s the case with a kid that’s been mentioned as being a snub thus far.
#12
Birchfield not making first team and Lundy not even on honorable mention is beyond me. Looks like they took everyone from a 75mi radius of Louisville got the first looks
#13
This is because they don’t have folks following eastern Kentucky. They only have members in the big cities

I quit paying any attention to these all state teams years ago because they are always inaccurate

Yes Patriot. Lots of kids on the list don't make it and lots of kids not on the list excel at the next level.
#16
To me this list has 0 credibility.

The fact that several teams who were beaten badly in the early rounds are better represented in this list than a team that went undefeated, played 1 game the entire season that was within 5 TDs, scored over 200 points more than anyone in their class, gave up over 100 points less than anyone in their class and steamrolled to a state title is down right funny.

2 third team defense, 1 honorable mention QB and 1 honorable mention punter is all CAL deserved.
I have no rooting interest in this team and only saw them play in the state finals.
One could easily make the case this was as dominant a team as anyone in the state in their class.
#17
I only think the Media should vote on this. Not supposed to be a coaches popularity contest. Sports writers from everywhere in the state.
#18
Media does a worse job. They just vote on kids in their area.

I think they should do an all state team voted on by only parents and fans. That should be good.
#19
Congrats to those on the list. Like all lists some kids get left out. As for me I like a list that each voter had access to film,
Game planned against and seen the players in person.

Members of what?
I think the CJ has always been a coaches' poll. There are coaches in eastern Kentucky.

I think they should go by winning and kids that are getting recruited big time after that. What are the credentials of making the list? Is it just stats? Is there a difference in a kid with a full ride to UK as compared to a kid that isn’t getting recruited? I’d say so. But there were some well deserving kids on the list.

Should players who missed several games be on all state teams? Like how the ncaa snubs players if they miss a game or two… open for discussion.

Should players who missed several games be on all state teams? Like how the ncaa snubs players if they miss a game or two… open for discussion.
The voting on this seems to be an issue. 13th Region has a lot of talent and from looking at these list I’m fairly certain it isn’t done with integrity. Someone please explain to me how Daniel Thomas from Bell County makes Honorable Mention with his stats. Daniel Thomas (2000 yards plus) should be a 1st team All State RB, Steve Partin ( 1700 yards plus) from Knox Central didn’t make any list and this a tragedy as he should be no less than 2nd Team All State ( he’s carried KC for two years with no help) Cameron Combs Corbin didn’t make either list and played in the 4A State Championship Game had over 1400 yards plus and should be no less than 3rd Team All State RB, Ethan Gregory North Laurel another 13th Region RB left off all list and should at the very least received Honorable Mention for rushing over 1200 plus yards. These four RB’s mentioned all deserved better than getting snubbed. Franklin West Corbin got a 3rd team All State should have been 1st team All State, Austin Johnson North Laurel received 3rd Team All State and is the state sack leader in all classes ( are you freakin kidding me? Austin Johnson is 1st Team All State period. I’m not seeing Carter Stewart’s name on list anywhere either just pitiful. The Curry kid probably the best DB in the 13th Region gets a Honorable Mention instead of 3rd Team All State. I’ll leave this right here, coaches gotta do a better job at rewarding your players when season is over. Already hearing two RB’s on the move from 13th Region to other programs..Happy New Year..

I would rather see an all state team voted on by coaches over one voted by the media. The Courier Journal all state team is chosen by coaches. According to Jason Frakes, the sports writer at the CJ, every head coach in Kentucky was given the opportunity to vote. I have no clue which coaches voted and which ones did not, but at least they were given that opportunity.

I agree there were kids that were overlooked, (Knox Central Steve Partin), but just wait for the AP all state team to come out. Someone in Eastern Kentucky has 2 AP votes and for a LONG time voted for his kid and his kid ended up first team offense and first team defense. And a lot of the AP team consisted of his teammates. Plus a few years ago the sports writer for the Times Tribune and Sentential Echo used those 2 votes from those papers to vote for the son of his best friend so that player, who was probably Corbin's 6th best lineman that year and lost his starting position late in the year, ended up on the AP all state team.

Congrats to all those who were selected to the CJ all state team!

I’m happy for all the kids that get selected but come on man. Jacob Baker got 3rd team should have been automatic 1st team no discussion. Look where Daniel Thomas finished statewide. I just think you give the kids what they earned. I’m clearly in the dark on the voting process. Just go look up 2022 stat leaders and look where Everyone sits. Should be cut and try! Congratulations to all those that did make the list and also to those that didn’t.

All State is a huge honor if you or your player are on it. If you're shafted then it's a stupid system. Such is the way of life.
