Who will be new coach at Breathitt?
#1
Who will be taking over for Hamilton?
#2
I have only heard rumors of one person but they are just that... rumors. If the coach that is involved in these rumors gets the job... Breathitt will be in good hands and a certain other county will be kicking themselves for letting politics stand in the way.
#3
Could it be Mike Davidson from Hazard?

I'm hearing the guy that coached Hamilton's 15U travel team that coached as an assistant at Wolfe last year would be an option. If that's the case he would already know several of Breathitt's players. Just a rumor I've heard. Not even sure he would be interested.

Is Breathitt for sure open?
#6
Not 100% sure but thought it may be, but well it’s Breathitt. Who knows.
#7
If open I would imagine Kyle Crisp from Leslie would be up for it. He was MS coach at Leslie the past few years. His son switched to Breathitt this year as a freshman.

His middle school teams were well coached and successful when he was at Leslie.

Sounds like a good candidate

Does Breathitt have a good feeder program? Little league or middle school?

Just wondering if any already proven coaches would be interested in this job.

This is a good question. I know they have a very experienced team this year with several seniors. What does the future look like for Breathitt. With the timing will this be a one year trial and then go out and try to find someone outside to come in. Although I do think Crisp would make a good one. Seems he done a good job with Leslie's MS program.

KHSAA only shows 1 senior (Combs).  But several juniors.
I've heard several people mention Crisp.   Plus, I think he already works for the school system.

Oh ok I thought they had more seniors than that. If Combs is only senior then this team has a lot of upside the next year or two. I thought Bellamy was a senior but forgot he took the Covid year. Howard is a nice young player at Breathitt as well.

Seems like they would hire within? Worked for them last year

I said it when he left Leslie and moved to Breathitt that Leslie will miss him. If he gets the Breathitt job then they will really miss him. His middle school teams over the last several years have been very competitive in the MS state playoffs, I think they even won state one year.

Where did the Crisp guy play college?
#17
Does it really matter if he played college or not? Is it that a requirement for the job placement?

It doesn’t matter. I was just curious

I don't know much about the Crisp guy other than seeing his teams play at Leslie and they weren't bad.  But I do know the guy that coached Hamilton's 15u team won games at a high level at several different states and venues. If I am not mistaking he won some state championships and World Series in USSSA, Pastime and maybe Perfect Game tournaments. My son filled in with his team a couple of times in the past and we were well pleased.

he sounds good. The only thing I would say though USSSA has a World Series every weekend. Winning a tournament out of state isn’t really that big of a deal. I remember my son playing in TN one weekend and it was a “state championship,” but there was only 5 teams in the tournament. Not sure if that is a good thing to judge him on? I’m sure he’s good I’m just saying I wouldn’t judge it off a summer schedule. It’s a completely different game too as far as managing the team. In high school baseball in KY there isnt a class system. So if I was judging two different people, I would look at someone that has experience winning at the high school level over winning 15u games in the summer. Idk anything about any of the other candidates, but for me, I would want someone who had experience coaching in KHSAA. That’s just my opinion and what I’ve seen happen in the past.

I highly doubt Michael will leave Hazard, especially with it being Braxton’s senior year.
#22
Well Micheal is a high quality coach and his younger two sons could go with him. Braxton has been to the state tournament 27 times already, so he may go with his dad. Who knows. Micheal has HS experience already. I’d offer him a good chunk of money and get him in the blue and white. Could help their program leaps and bounds.

That sounds like a much more reasonable hire

No way am I knocking Michael. I’ve known him my whole life. I think he is a great coach, and an even better person. You never know.
#25
Any update on this one? Anyone hearing anything?
#26
I’d say Jason Combs gets it.
#27
I do not recognize that name. Jason Combs, has he coached anywhere else?
#28
That may not be his name. May be Justin Combs. Big guy from Breathitt. Think he played for Union College.
#29
Heard yesterday that Bobby Keith Dixon got a nice offer from Breathitt.
#30
Lol Bobby Keith isn’t leaving his current job to come to Breathitt. If he wanted to still be coaching he would be at Perry still.
