Happy Thanksgiving!!!
#1
I won't be in town for Thanksgiving, so I wanted to take this opportunity to wish ALL my BGR Family a blessed Thanksgiving!!!!

Also, my daughter and granddaughter have both volunteered to work on Thanksgiving day, so we will be celebrating our Thanksgiving on Friday.  Which means, since I will be out of town, I won't be able to do a "Various Update" thread.  Please somebody continue this!  We continue to get a couple thousand views every week, so I feel it's important.

You guys eat a lot and remember things you are thankful for!!

Sarge, I'd bet $ that we are kin!!!

SUR keeps trying to prove that he is kin to me, but I don't believe it a minute!!

My daddy was the earliest coal miner that I knew. He worked at the Push N Grunt mines for several years. Know where that is???

No. My mom moved when she got married. Her side are Campbell’s. All coal miners. Not sure how many generations lived there. My mamaw would show me pics of her dad and mom , grandparents and great grandparents. It’s crazy how it looked back then compare to now.

I like to visit Benham sometimes. It's like having your own town for the day. My grandfather was born at Kildav near Evarts. I have a picture of him at Sunshine when he was a little boy.

My grandfather worked in coal mines with his father and grandfather in Whitley, Harlan,Knox,Bell and Campbell County,TN. They moved around from places such as Evarts to BlackStar then to Straight Creek in Bell County to Fourmile to Artemus and Wilton to Rockholds. There might be a good chance that I'm related to you. I'll have to look at your family tree. lol

This post made me sad.  I always invited Harry Rex Vonner to my house for holiday meals.  He never attended, and now is passed on.  I really miss him!

When my mom and dad were married, they took every cent of their money, took half and bought two tickets as far as it would take them for their honeymoon.  Guess where they went.....Kildav!!!  Great memory!!!

Sorry to hear that. It's awesome that they went to Kildav. If you search W.B Jones in Harlan County you'll surely see his name mentioned with Bloody Harlan and Evarts. His father died at Straight Creek. I thought it was near Arjay in Bell County, but I could be wrong. lol
