Perry handled pike central, but now belfry comes to town this Friday, can perry central move the football offensively and can they stop the belfry ground attack? Anxious to see this one.

Belfry looks to run the ball with ease against the Perry defense, while Perry has a lot of questions on offense. Will be interesting

I'm waiting on Perry to just come out and show that the new coaching change did them some good. Tuff district.

Tuff district.I’d say you’ll be waiting awhile as far as the district goes ?. Johnson and letcher are a step above. Perry is in the 3-4 range. Dixon has done a good job so far and I’m sure he’ll continue to get better, but they just lost too much from last years team in my opinion

Man, he needs to walk them halls a couple more times. They some big dudes over in that country. CornBread and SoupBeans and Tater kids. I was one myself. I wished more of these kids would come out and play. Turn the tide.

it’s crazy to me some of the good looking athletes and down right huge kids I see in the student sections at some of these game that choose not to play.

I know some kids for example in Clay County that didn't play and Knox Central as well, that looked like NFL prospects. Monsters..

All them kids walking the halls want to play QB in Perry County instead of on the O and D lines where they belong. That’s why they choose not to play. Well one of the reasons. You almost have to beg kids to play sports in Perry these days. No work ethic hardly at all. Mark Dixon is a great coach and an even better person. What kid wouldn’t want to play for him. He makes the game fun. So does all his coaches as well.

I got a good friend I grew up with that is friends with Mark. He was telling me the same thing. Nice guy.

They basically had a lineman play QB last year and had a successful season, went and got a transfer from Knott this year. Not knocking the kid, but he’s gonna get a wake up call in the 4A , hopefully he’s able to have the same success at Perry he had at Knott.

4A is definately a guanlet. That is a hard district.

Stopping Pike Central is one thing. I don’t see Perry slowing down the Belfry offense. Even in a controlled scrimmage….Belfry will break off some runs. Ball handling will be the issue for the Pirates. Can’t put the ball on the ground.

Yeah they had a good season but really never closed the gap against LCC. Maybe a more athletic QB would made the difference since they were a primary run first team. Not like the QB was a gunslinger last season.

Guess time will tell.. I sure hope it’s a big upgrade and he’s able to run the offense for Perry.

Yeah I do as well. Love to see PCC be successful. Got to get over the LCC hump. Dixon used to own them when he was at Hazard. Mark was district 5A champion almost the entire time he coached at Hazard with a 1A team. Think he even beat JC here and there.

Well that is because the grade school and middle school coaches set that up. They don’t care about developing talent at that age just winning games with the biggest player that have at the time and running the ball. I’ve seen it for years in diff counties. Once they get to high school coaches make them become linemen like they should have already been they get pissed and quit.

You are correct about that Tailback but if there was a chain of command coming down from the HS then those things wouldn’t be happening more than likely. Problem around here is high school coaches just let anyone control their middle school programs/elementary programs. Don’t run anything like the high school and the HS coaches don’t make suggestions and just let these things happen in order to just keep what little bit of a program they have alive. Hard to blame everything on a mom/dad/uncle Coach when they really don’t know anything to begin with. HS coaches need to step up and put some things in place. In some cases the HS coach should maybe coach the team themselves or have some of their assistants doing it. Got to lay down some foundations. I’m sure you have been in the same situation running your HS program.
