The Reds have offered 2008 positions on the coaching staff to all but two assistants, bullpen coach Tom Hume and bench coach Pat Kelly.

Kelly was reassigned within the organization, back to managing the club's rookie-level team in Sarasota, but Hume was not asked back in any capacity. I was very surprised by this, I always thought he did a good job with the bullpen in recent years, despite the fact he was often not given much to work with.
Dick Pole, on the other hand, has not impressed me at all in his one season, and I had thought he would almost assuredly be gone. But it turns out he has a prior association with Dusty Baker, which is a big factor in his return.
