10/22 @ Martin Co. (district game)
(Prestonsburg finished 3-5 and 2-3 in district play in 2020. Games against Martin County and Betsy Layne were cancelled due to Covid.)
Key losses: Brayden Slone, Owen Greene, Aaron Watson, Samson Allen, and Nathan McGuire.
Key returners: Carter Akers, Ethan Jarvis, Braxton Collins, and Nick Porter.
I expect a big year out of Porter. Kid looks like a football player and will only be a junior. Could be a breakout year for him and I could see him starting to get some serious attention from college coaches. The team needs a lot of guys to step up and put in a lot of work this off season, because there are a lot of question marks going into the season. Replacing Mr. do-it-all, Brayden Slone will not be easy.
I think having a winning season or at least going 6-6 is very important this year. It'll say a lot about coach Brewer's ability to develop these guys and show continued improvement.
Can't wait for August 20th.... Go Blackcats!!!
