Russell will role into Putnam 5-0. Ashland 3-0 has dominated the series of late winning 12 of the last 13. This game will decide the District title and Ashland has a 15 game home win streak on the line. Thoughts? Predictions?

This could be two totally different games depending on if the 3 players that got hurt last night play this Friday. With all 3 I’d take the Devils without them it would probably be Ashland’s game. Either way in 5 weeks they will meet again for all the marbles. Two very very good teams.

I’ll give the edge to Russell. They have played 2 extra games and the better schedule as a whole. Should be a great game, hard hitting and a nail bitter whoever wins.

The District Championship last year was won in the 2nd round of the playoffs. It may be the same this year. The regular season is Just for seeding.

We know RB Nathan Conley went down quick on 2nd or 3rd play with his Ankle. I thought Coach Maynard said after game that RB Conley was ready to tape it up and go back in the game last night vs. Greenup County but Maynard decided it would be best to hold him out rest of the game. I took it on how Coach Maynard was talking that Conley would be OK to go next week vs. Ashland. Who was the other 2 players injured Friday night?
This game like last year's game is extremely important on getting the home field advantage in Week 2 of the Playoffs. Like last year with Russell losing a close game at Russell that gave Ashland the Advantage playing at Home in 2nd week of playoffs. I hope that the players that went down with injuries get to play next Friday Night at Ashland especially RB Nathan Conley. Conley brings so much to the team on both sides of the ball. His offense running the ball has opened up QB Charlie Jachimczuk passing game and Conley has became a weapon at Receiver too as well as running the ball.
Has anyone heard on how RB Nathan Conley was doing after the game and how he was doing on Sunday? Conley is such a huge piece on the Red Devils offense Running and Receiving and also on Defense. Russell really needs Conley next Friday night to have a shot at beating Ashland at Putnam Stadium. Both teams really need that Home Field Advantage in Week 2 of the Playoffs.

This should be one to watch. Both teams have ideas of advancing deep in to the playoffs. Pittman appears to have gotten stronger....and seems to be playing with more aggressiveness. Russell seems to be moving in the right direction....but I do question their depth. They are small overall. A couple of injuries could decimate them.
with it being at Putnam.....I'll give Ashland the edge. 24-17

Has anyone heard about the injuries for next week's game especially RB Nathan Conley's ankle? On the post-game show Head Coach Maynard made it sound that Conley was ready to take it up and to play rest of the game. Coach Maynard made the decision to keep Conley out so that he could play next week at Ashland. Has anyone heard anymore on Conley's ankle injury and if he will be able to go Friday Night at Ashland.
I was wondering if anyone on here knows what happened with last year's Freshman QB Logan Lundy. I now live in Columbus, Ohio but still follow the Russell Red Devils Sports and knew Logan Lundy had an outstanding Freshman year last year. I just haven't seen his name come up and was wondering if he was QB for the JV Russell Red Devils or did he have an injury?

30-20 Ashland

17-14 Russell if injured players return..... 17-14 Ashland if they don’t

I think Russell will miss Conley more on defense than offense. The Oborne kid seems to run as hard as Conley, but has more speed. He can also make the catches out of the backfield. Not having the depth will be a big factor with Conley not going. Has anyone heard anything?

Devils hit hard with the injury bug. Senior Starters.. Nathan Conley... A.J Raybourne...Anthony Blevins questionable after last week. Senior starter Ethan Sharp rehabbing torn hamstring has been out since opener. These boys basically starters since Freshman season have played ton of football and hard to replace their experience. I’m guessing tho that it will be next man up..and Russell will show up at the stadium to play the game...

Also Braden Cook is lost for the season had to have labrum surgery. Hopefully the other 3 you mentioned can play but like you said if they can't it will be next man up.

I thought when Coach Maynard spoke on the Post-Game Friday night he was saying that RB Nathan Conley was ready to tape it up and go back into the game. It sounded to me how Maynard was talking on the injury to Conley that it wasn't that bad his Ankle. Maynard mentioned that Conley injured his ankle on the Red Devils’ opening drive and didn’t return as a precaution. It sounded to me that Conley wanted to go back in and Maynard held him out to have him back Friday night vs. Ashland. This is one of the biggest games each year for Russell and Ashland now they are in the same district in 3A and you know that RB Conley doesn't want to miss this game. It will be interesting to see how Conley is doing this week in practice and how his ankle is doing in practice. We need Conley not only on the offense with his running and now receiving more this year but even more on the Defensive side this Friday vs. Ashland. This is an important game and we know from last year losing the home field advantage after the close loss what it did in the Playoffs in 2nd round playing at Ashland. We really need to see all 3 players that had injuries last Friday night but we especially need RB Conley not just on the Offensive side but also on the Defensive side to have a great chance to pull this one out on Friday night at Ashland.

Sorry for overlooking Braden Cook..another big contributor....and there is possibly a couple more. I think missing camp this year maybe one of the reasons for so many injuries...but that’s just me. Conleys foot is in a boot.
10-16-2020, 05:15 AM
So, what is the news on Nathan Conley playing tonight vs. Ashland? Is it a game-time decision for Russell on playing Conley tonight. We know many athletes wear Boots when the condition of the foot is not that bad but the Boot helps heal the foot & ankle quicker. Coach Maynard in last week's post-game made it sound that Conley wanted to re-enter the game vs. Greenup County but held Conley out as a precaution. Lets hope Conley can play because he is needed on both the Offense and defense side of the game vs. a very tough Ashland team tonight.

With some kids injured I think this game comes down to can Russell slow down Ashland’s speed not stop it but slow it down and can Ashland figure out how to deal with all the different playmakers Russell has even without Conley. Ashland might have the best 2 playmakers on the field in Pittman and Garrett but there should be no question that Russell has a lot more of them even without Conley who is the best player in that district

24-20 Tomcats!!

Nathan Conley out tonight for Russell and Aj Raybourne. Anthony Blevins is going to try to play. Of Course Ethan Sharp is still out.
