When the season was beginning, the Honcho said that this game against the Jackson County Generals was going to make General Custers last stand look like when we stormed the beaches of Normandy.

But.

The Honcho is no longer sure.

For the first time since the program's inception in 2003, the Honcho may not be making the trip. I've driven the Polar Bear Beretta (custom paint job, polar bear blue!) across this state. From Bethlehem to Paintsville, from Dayton to Westwood to Berea to root for my beloved Polar Bears.

But I'm just not sure my heart can take much more. I've been talking with my accountant/landlord and I told her "mom, I just don't know..." and she gave me some wisdom, she said "some times, if you really love something, you should let it go, and if it's meant to be, it will come back." Then, I wondered if my mom was talking about Coach Brausch? And I pried to see if she had heard any rumors that he was returning!? But alas. She was talking about my love and devotion to the Polar Bears.

I am pretty sure I'll be in McKee Friday. Cautiously optimistic, but weary. These Polar Bears had visions of Kroger Field in the summer. Now in december the only Kroger I'll see is the one where I buy my Hungry-Man dinners and beverages.

I can't change though. I think this is the game we figure it out. Carver has them ready, and the Polar Bears win 12-11. Carver is carried off the field, (by me!) and as that fog rolls in it represents the tears of every Jackson Countian...
