Lower enrollments and lower participation given as reasons. Starting with 10 schools. Eight-man football is played with two fewer linemen and one less receiver or running back on offense. The field is the same length but narrowed.

Bardstown Bethlehem was an 8-man program for years and even won a couple championships. A lot of teams did it in the 90's. Championships were always played at Kentucky State. Most impressive program was the Kentucky School for the Deaf.

Small schools are going away. Consolidation is absorbing them. Lose a couple of schools every year.
