These two meet yet again the first round of the playoffs. Powell County edged out Casey last season on the same field, 44-41 on a goal line stand.
Who wins this game? Could be one of the better first round games.

If Powell is health, Powell
24-21
24-21

I agree Powell could very well win this one and for me that would be an upset.

I think this will again be a tough battle. Powell plays very inspired football. I have nothing bad to say about their kids or program. In a battle of the "mid tier" teams in 3A (top 8 to 12 type teams), I think this matchup is about as even and solid as it can get. Across 3A you're going to see ridiculous one-sided games, and you'll see teams in weak districts play ultra weak teams and it'll be lopsided. In my opinion, Powell gets a crappy draw here, as well as Casey. Casey 8-2 and only losing to Corbin and Bell (no shame there), should probably get a little bit better seed. Powell could say the same thing. As is, these 2 have to play each other again, in what should be a very even game, at least on paper. It is Skidmore in the Powell backfield against the big power back, Preston Tucker of Casey County. Quarterback Austin Campbell for Casey could very well be the difference maker, along with Casey having 2 backs just as talented as Tucker. This one is all about who comes out and plays smart football, and listen to their coaches, and who has more heart. That's what it'll boil down too. The next weeks matchup, playing Corbin, obviously that is a talent gap as long as a numbers gap, but not this week. This week is whoever wants it most.

Within a TD either way.

This will be a hard fought game until the end. Just hope for better field conditions this Friday. Sadly, suppose to rain in Stanton late Wednesday night, all day Thursday and some Friday. So, it will probably be a muddy mess again. As always though, Go Pirates!

Which ever defense steps up to the occasion wins.. Skidmore/Harmon Vs. Tucker/Glenn. Should be a very exciting game in the mud.

Casey by 14.

Casey will have revenge for a lucky stop. I think they come out and knock Powell in the mouth and win it. If skidmore isn't 100 percent this will be ugly quick.

I would like to see Powell win but I say Casey by a score
10-28-2018, 10:36 PM
Iâm going with Casey. I think they have enough offensive weapons to pull it out

This game could go either way,
Casey County 42
Powell County 41
Casey County 42
Powell County 41
10-28-2018, 11:42 PM
Powell by 3.

Should be a shoot out. Whoever has the ball last might be the favorite in this one.

I am going with the Rebels in this one! Casey in a close one. Powell's D cannot stop anyone and with the weapons that Casey has, it could be a long night for the Pirates on defense. However, I do not think Casey will "stop" Powell and Skidmore, but they will slow them enough to be the difference.

This is a hard one to pick. Casey has a good record but got blown out by Corbin and Bell.

Casey by 6.

What I don't understand about powell is they lost to breathitt but beat Lawrence.
I say Casey by 14.

Skidmore went down in I believe the 2nd quarter against Breathitt. Huge game changer on both sides of the ball and the refs were awful.

If Caseyâs offensive line plays like they should/can then they will beat Powellâs defense down. Caseyâs line is pretty solid especially that left side.
10-31-2018, 04:38 PM
Rebels win it 34-21.

Lucky stop? Thereâs nothing lucky about stopping a team like Casey from the 3 yard line 4 straight downs. Pure heart!! And thatâs what Powell will show Friday night. It will be a close one but Powell gets the W.

The play calling sure didnât hurt Powellâs chances either......

From the 2 yard line with a Regional Championship appearance on the line everyone in the stands and on the field knew what was coming. Ended up 2 inches short⏳

Donât get me wrong. Powell deserved to have won it. A goal line stop Is a goal line stop. Iâm not saying it was luck. Iâm just saying the play calling at the end sure didnât hurt Powell. And I have no dog in the fight. Thatâs just honest opinion.

I believe it was actually 3rd and goal when the clock expired, If casey had thrown the ball in that situation they may have had 2 plays instead of 1 to get into the end zone. Either way, props to the Pirates on a big goal line stand and goodluck to both teams Friday night, it should be another nail biter!

If they had kept the play between the tackles they would of had time for another shot. Casey also had the leading receiver in the state in 3A last year they could of thrown to. They had options but what happened happened and Powell executed their game plan and won.

IMO Bell was going to beat us that night, but (excuse time), maybe our best defensive player didn't play that game due to a concussion, and our starting strong safety had just went out for the year the game before Bell. That and we played horrible. Bell's QB didn't even play out of this world like some say he has played them.
Corbin it was 7-0 with maybe 2 minutes left in the first half, Corbin up, and we drop a stinking punt at the 20 that Corbin recovers on like the 12 and punch in before half to put it to 14-0 at the half. Before that we had somehow managed to make Corbin's powerful offense punt every series, except the one they had scored on. Once that score went in before the half our kids just hung their heads...Having said that, Estep was off a bit in the first half as well. Our QB also went down to injury (precautionary), in the 2nd half of that game. Our running back was getting some yards in that game, but we did stupid stuff to kill our own drives, on top of Corbin's awesome defense.
