RECRUITING UPDATE: Miller, Patterson, Lucas, Pettigrew & Alex Legion

Michigan Coach John Beilein announced that the school had released Alex Legion, one of the nation's top shooting guard prospects, from his letter of intent. FoxSports.com reported that Kentucky is one of four schools Legion is considering. The others are Connecticut, UCLA and Kansas. Legion, a Detroit native who is 6-foot-4, averaged 19.6 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists as a senior at Oak Hill Academy.

Wing Darius Miller is a "priority" in new Kentucky coach Billy Gillispie's recruiting efforts.
Gillispie is less sure about what to make of Kentucky Mr. Basketball Steffphon Pettigrew. BCG watched Pettigrew in a pickup game Sunday, then asked for game tapes and told E-town coach he'd get back with him.

Lucas visited Florida last weekend as most of us already know. Patterson met with BCG last night.

FoxSports.com also list Kentucky as being the 4th choice for Patterson, behind Florida, Duke & Virginia. However, the article was written before BCG's meeting with Patterson last night. Hinging on that, the article says UK may move into the top 3 for Patterson.

We don't need another SG. Legion is good but he should be pretty low on the list of priorities.

Where do you think we don't need a SG,Crawford,and Bradley both are very inconsistent,and Crawfords defense sucks,I say go for it BCG.

I could see a need for one after those two graduate and Legion would be a great find to split time with Meeks but priority number 1 should be big men and nothing but that.

The whole damn team's defense was suspect under Tubby. You cant play ball line defense against teams that can shoot and thats what he did. The three is always open in ball line defense

Patterson was also upset over Smith's departure. But, like Lucas, he understands what happened and will "take it all the way out to May" before choosing his school.

"You know Florida, they always been on my list," Lucas said. "Coach Donovan's recruited me since my sophomore year. But he said he didn't feel it was the right situation with Taurean Green still there. So once Taurean Green went to the NBA, it's an opportunity to look at. Coach Donovan is a guard coach and I am a guard, so that's a big thing."

Legion has narrowed it down to 3 schools. UK, UCLA, and Michigan. His mother has said that UCLA wasn't an option, and Legion has discussed Michigan as being a "football school". With Michigan letting him out of his LOI, I see him UK bound. Plus, this quote from Legion is a pretty good indication for the Cats!!

"I'm real comfortable with Kentucky right now," he said. "It's only five hours from home, not too far at all. And it's a basketball school whereas Michigan is a football school. And with UCLA, it's pretty far away. Kentucky may be the best fit when I consider everything." --Legion
