Ohio State University will investigate what safety measures might be taken after a second person within four days fell from the same parking garage on campus.

University police and Columbus Fire responded around 3:30 p.m. to the Ohio Union South Garage after a woman was found on the ground outside the garage, said Dan Hedman, a spokesman for the university.

The woman, who was a former OSU student, was taken in critical condition to the Wexner Medical Center at the university. She was still alive late Sunday night. No further details about the incident were available.

On Thursday evening, Daniel Birdsall, a sophomore, died at the hospital after he either fell or jumped from the garage’s upper level. The university characterized it as a fall, though initial dispatch reports were calling for law enforcement to respond to the garage for a person possibly threatening to jump.

Hedman said the university is concerned because this is second incident in a short period of time. He said university officials would investigate what type of safety measures might be undertaken.
