Boston College 91 North Carolina State 87 (ACC Tourney)
#1
BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The NC State men's basketball team's comeback attempt came up just short as it fell to Boston College, 91-87, in the second round of the ACC Tournament Wednesday afternoon. With the loss, the Wolfpack falls to 21-11 on the season, while the Eagles improve to 19-14.

Allerik Freeman led NC State in scoring for the seventh consecutive game, posting 21 points on 5-for-7 shooting from long range. Omer Yurtseven shot 8-of-16 from the field on the way to scoring 20 points and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds. Torin Dorn (13), Sam Hunt (13), and Markell Johnson (10) joined them in double figures.

The Wolfpack scored the first basket of the game and did not lead again. Boston College jumped out to an early 17-7 lead with the help of an 8-0 run, with Ky Bowman scoring all eight of those points for the Eagles. The Pack pulled the game to within six on two occasions in the opening period, but Boston College opened up a lead as big as 16 in the first half.

The Wolfpack struggled from the field during the first 20 minutes of the game, shooting just 12-of-34, while Boston College shot 18-of-35 in the first half. NC State faced its biggest halftime deficit of the season, as it went into the break down 45-29.

Jordan Chatman opened up second-half scoring, knocking down a three to give Boston College its biggest lead of the day at 17 points.

Down 16 with 9:29 remaining in the game, the Wolfpack went on a 22-7 run on the way to tying the score at 75.

NC State hit three unanswered shots to pull within 10. A three by Hunt cut the Pack's deficit to single digits for the first time since the 5:29 mark of the first half.

Allerik Freeman made a three-pointer with 5:44 to go to put NC State within six. On the next possession, Hunt drilled a triple and was fouled in the process. He converted the free throw to trim Boston College's lead to just two at 75-73, and Yurtseven went on to hit the tying layup on the Pack's next possession.

The teams matched basket for basket, with the score knotted up a total of four times in the final 3:28 of the game, but the Eagles went a perfect 4-for-4 from the charity stipe down the line to secure the victory.

Boston College was led by Jerome Robinson, who scored a game-high 26 points, and Bowman, who tallied 24 points.

NC State awaits the release of the 2018 NCAA Tournament bracket, which will be announced on TBS on Sunday, March 11 at 6 p.m.
