Missouri 89 Mississippi State 85 (OT)
#1
COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou Men's Basketball (17-8, 7-5) avenged an earlier loss to Mississippi State (18-7, 6-6) by defeating the Bulldogs in exhilarating fashion, 89-85, in overtime on Saturday afternoon. While it seemed that the Tigers were in control late in the second half, the Bulldogs responded quickly by forcing the game into overtime. Some late heroics by junior forward Kevin Puryear (Blue Springs, Mo.) and the Tigers proved to be the deciding factor as Mizzou pulled away with the victory.

Graduate senior guard Kassius Robertson (Toronto, Ontario) had another standout game as he recorded a team-high 22 points for his seventh 20-point SEC game this season. Junior guard Jordan Geist (Fort Wayne, Ind.) scored 17, the most for him in a conference game this season, adding four three-pointers. Senior forward Jordan Barnett (St. Louis, Mo.) added 15 points to the team's total as he secured his 14th game of the season with at least 15 points. Barnett also contributed on the boards with a team-high eight rebounds.

Mizzou's hot streak continued as the Tigers have won four-straight games. The streak is significant in that it represents the longest conference winning streak since the 2011-2012 season, and the longest SEC winning streak since joining the conference.

TURNING POINT
Following an offensive foul on Mississippi State with the Bulldogs leading 84-82, the Tigers rushed down the court to add a Puryear layup to tie the game with 1:06 remaining in the overtime period. The Bulldogs partially responded by knocking down a free throw on the other end to claim the lead once more, 85-84 with just over 30 seconds to play. With the clock winding down, Robertson drove towards the lane and kicked it out to Puryear in the corner. The junior forward drained a clutch triple to put Mizzou up 87-85 with 10 seconds on the clock. On the ensuing Bulldog possession, a crucial offensive foul on Mississippi State put the ball back in the hands of the Tigers with just six seconds remaining. Robertson wrapped up the game as he drained two free throws to put the game out of reach for Mississippi State.
