Lots of questionable calls and Estill was 12/26 from FT line in 2nd half

Powell was 18/29 from the line

Congrats to the Lady Pirates for a big district win on the road!Confusedinglepar

You miss 14 free throws and lose in double overtime, doesn't look like to me you have anyone to blame but the free throw shooters. Good win for the Lady Pirates.

I know my Lady Engineers fell up short, but I actually left feeling quite uplifted. Powell is losing three seniors; Brown, Elam, and Hall. By the way, Brown played a tremendous game, it was crazy. She finished with 33. Estill on the other hand is only losing, Brewer.

Both Teams played 8 players

Estill played 3 8th graders, 0 Freshman, 1 Sophomore, 3 Juniors, and 1 Senior.

Powell played 0 8th graders, 2 Freshman, 0 Sophomores, 2 Juniors and 4 Seniors

From this game Powell will be losing 52 out of their 73 points

Estill is losing 11 our of their 69 points

Estill is losing a player who had the 3rd most points

Powell 1 and 2

My point here is that Powell's fans should not be uplifted from this game, but distraught. Estill's significantly younger players, are obviously just as good as Powell's veteran players. And Estill's players are only going to make vast improvements, with both age and experience. This young Estill team took this Powell County team to 2OT's, not a positive for Powell. Very much so a positive for Estill. Estill's Mia Hale had 15, second on her team. Oh yes, she is an eight grader. Brown had 33, and it still took 2OT's to seal the deal, great news for Estill, bad news for Powell. This is a game that a veteran Powell team should have won by 15 or more. Brown played great! Who knows what would have happened if Brown did not go berserk. Just calling it the way I see it. Both teams played with a lot of heart. Congratulations to Powell. Go Neers!!

Do you think the charge call on Amy was the correct call? I know once the ref called it a charge, Coach Hughes lost it and just about got T'd up over it.

Estill had 3 charges call on them, in the final minutes, one on A. Brewer, S. Brewer, and M. Hale (In all three, the ball went thru the cylinder). First two was questionable in my opinion, maybe not so much on the third.

So one ref called a charge and one called a block? what did they do then?

Jones walked out on the floor to half court and got in the ear of one of the refs in the 2nd half. After that the game changed. His calls were so horrendous at one point the 3 refs had a conference and talked him into completely changing a call after he had made the call to the scorers table.

sounds like Jones knew hew was beat or gonna be beat and couldn't stand it. If he went halfway out on the court, that should have been a Technical foul. I think Estill wins in Stanton.

I don't think it really matters tho because I can't see Powell nor Estill winning the district title this season. I think that is either Lee or Owsley

Powell’s roster only shows 3 seniors.

You're right, they have 3. But still the moral of the story remains the same.
