Cincinnati Reds Games
#1
If ever any of you might be taking in a Reds game be sure to let me know. One of my part time gigs is taking tickets at the games and I'm usually at the gate by the Hall of Fame or the main gate where the ticket office and the statues are located. Would enjoy meeting anyone and saying hello.

Can't wait to go to a Reds game this year! Maybe I'll get lucky and get to see a 500 ft Josh Hamilton homer.

Actually, probably just as likely that if there are any 500 ft homers hit at GABP, it will be Milton serving them up.

Have the Reds done anything to help their pitching staff during the offseason??

None of these moves qualify as earth-shattering, but the Reds did a few things.

1) The most widely publicized moves were the signing of Harang and Arroyo to long-term deals, locking each of them up for 4 yrs with club options for a 5th. Doesn't make them any better this year, but does provide some stability at the top for the future.

2) Traded for Kirk Saarloos from Oakland, a ground-ball specialist who seems lto be a perfect fit for GABP. He did seem like the easy choice for the 5th spot in the rotation, except that the team...

3) Sent Matt Belisle to pitch in Winter Ball, where his success as a starter has continued as even more success in spring training. Many think that he has the inside track on the last rotation spot now, bumping Saarloos to be the bullpen's long man.

4) Picked up a couple veterans for the pen in Mike Stanton and Dustin Hermanson. Hermanson has apparently looked good enough in spring training that he may be the leading candidate to close.

5) Probably most importantly, the team resisted any urges to rush Homer Bailey to the majors too soon, which could possibly stunt his development. They sent him down to triple-A last week.

Hey BigZig me and the whole family are coming up on the 21st for the Saturday night game. Our oldest son bought his little brothers both tickets for their birthdays. They are on the 8th and the 22nd so we decided to go up on the eve of the baby's birthday.

Do you live up there or attend school up there? My son is over at NKU.

Give me a shout and let me know what gate you will be at if you work that evening. I would enjoy meeting you as well.

I'll be down there April 20th for College Night. Students get in for half-price.

I'm getting pumped for Opening Day! Wish I didn't have to work so that I could stay home and watch it on FSN...
