Spurlock is not a short timer at Clay County. I think if you look at the team they had...going 20-9 is great! Spurlock has done great work and never been given a great deal of credit. This team does not have any "basketball players" on the roster, just athletes. It was a disappointing finish to an overall good season.

darkside, what do you base your opinion on? how do you form one like that? I am curious to know if you think anyone else could have taken this team and got 20 wins and a district championship out of them?
If you recall, and anyone else for that matter, in the pre-season the so-called experts picked Jackson Co. and North Laurel 1 and 2 in the district, with Clay being picked 3rd, and a couple had them 4th. And most polls didn't even rank them in the region top 10, and no higher than 7 or 8. And they beat EVERY team that was ranked ahead of them, except Corbin and South.
So what do you think they were trying to say? Knowing Clay's past, if they thought they were going to have anything at all, they would have been ranked higher, if not in at least the top 3.
I am sure people like you would probably have expected a regional championship if the entire starting 5 and subs were all hobbled but broke ankles or torn up knees.
Give some credence to your opinions. What have these players done in their Clay Co. history to warrant such high regard for having to have a great season.
Spurlock got more out of this team than anyone could. You think Glenn Gray could have done that. He didn't even stick around to want to try.
WHile they are losing Sizemore and Campbell, this team got great experience and they are going to be a top 3 team next season in the 13th, and then the expectations will be VERY HIGH, and right they should.
And mark my words, a regional championship will be brought back to Clay Co. within the next couple of years, IF NOT NEXT SEASON!!!!
