Kentucky State Police have arrested a man accused of assaulting Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) at his home in Bowling Green, the senator's office confirmed on Saturday.
"Senator Paul was blindsided and the victim of an assault," Kelsey Cooper, a spokeswoman for Paul, said in a statement. "The assailant was arrested and it is now a matter for the police. Senator Paul is fine."
The suspect was identified as 59-year-old Rene Boucher of Bowling Green, according to a statement from police. The Warren County Attorney's Office issued a warrant for Boucher's arrest shortly after the assault on Friday.
Police are investigating the assault, according to the statement. Boucher has been charged with 4th degree assault, causing a minor injury.

He has a very punchable face.
I'm sure he was drawing up plans on how to run for and lose the 2024 presidential primary.

I don't agree with everything he does, but I like Rand Paul.

I bet it was over some kind of sexual harassment between them.

Rand Paul must have taken a real ass kicking.
Republican Sen. Rand Paul has five rib fractures, including three displaced fractures and lung contusions, after an assault in his home in Bowling Green, Kentucky, a senior adviser told CNN.

I don't get how someone sneaking up behind you and tackling you can in any way be called an ass kicking. More like cowardly attack.

How about a cowardly act that resulted in an ass kicking?

Nope. Just a cowardly attack. If I sucker punch you and knock you out did I kick your ass?

LOL! No, in all honesty when I posted about Rand Paul taking an ass kicking, I wasn't insinuating it was anything other than a cowardly act. I guess it was my way of saying he got the bad end of the deal. I do see your point though. How about I post that Rand Paul suffered serve injuries in an ambush type assault?

I have almost the identical injuries from a 3 month bout of (undiagnosed for a long time) whooping cough. I'm still going.
I'm sorry. Maybe I'm just a hateful old woman, but if somebody tackles me from behind while I'm on my own property and minding my own business, THEY would be the one carrying an ass whooping!!!

Granny Bear, I think most people are like me. They would rather try tackling a grizzly bear as try tackling you. I hope you're feeling better.

So, the attacker, who was a former doctor, was ticked off over leaves and yard waste.

Waving the BS flag again!!!
Too much chatter about things not quite adding up in this case!! Breaking 5 ribs is NOT a 4th degree assault. Jet Pilot is correct about 4th degree assault being noogies!!
nicker:
And a $7,500 bond??? Don't make sense.
Details are sparse and ambiguous.
I think there's more to the story.
