Great game. Best atmosphere ive seen in a 15th region game this year.
Fantastic.
My hat goes off to both teams.
I think Pikeville has proven they are a championship caliber team. They played a horrible 2nd half and still had Shelby Valley within reach.
Good luck to both teams next week.

I thought Jacob Bryant's inside play was the difference in this game. Pikeville had no answer for him. He really sealed well on the block, resulting in several baskets. Valley shot 14 of 15 from the free throw line. Jacob had 20 points, Ashley had 15 (in limited playing time off the bench), Logan and Elisha had 8 apiece, and Taylor Newsome came up big with 10 boards and 5 assists. I thought Harmon, Clevinger, and Sword played well for Pikeville.
Pikeville definitely won't play Valley or Paintsville in the first round of the tournament, so that is a plus.

Always a VERY hard task to beat a team 3 times in one year, but Valley pulled it off, refs did a good job tonight except on a few calls against Valley, but hats off to them for a good game. P-ville had a lot of late turnovers and looked to be kind of puzzled in the last few minutes of the game, the lead just kept getting larger throughout the 4th quarter. The fan sections were great tonight, I really liked how big of a turnout Pikeville had at the game, added to it a lot tonight. Think I might have heard one of the best cheers tonight, as Pikeville yelled out "We can't hear you", Valley responded with "Yes you can", and left Pikeville without anything to say for a while. Great game by these two teams and can't wait for region to start.

If you thought that the best cheer valley did was "yes you can" responding to pikevilles "we cant hear you".....thats sad...
I was sitting on Pvilles side and at points during the game, valley's chanting was not understandable.
I thought Pikeville won the battle of the pep section's 2nite.

Our chanting is understandable at our gym, we have the same amount of fans for every game, all of our fans don't come out of the woodwork for district like Pikeville's did tonight.

I was at this game and was standing at the bottom and as for understanding the pep sections, I could understand Valley's alot more than Pikeville's. Although both pep sections were great the difference in them was the originality. Pikeville seem to mimic cheers that Valley have done at every game I have been to, and They took it to the extreme by talking about players from Valley. Why chant " Logan wears diapers?" What sense did that make? And as for Valley's chant against #23 at least they didn't make personal reference as in saying a name. Also, I hvae one other complaint with Pikeville's fan section, Why chant about a girl's basketball player in a boy's basketball game. Shows a lil jealousy if I must say. Valley's fan sections had its spurts where the cheers were horrible. I must give Valley credit for throwing the lil guy in black back and forth spelling Wildcats. I must say that was impressive! Alot of practice must have went on for that! Good Game tonight and Good luck to both teams in Region!

Shelby Valley's chants consisted of airball, Shelby Valley, and we can't hear you, very original. By the way we did a couple of your alls chants from the beginning of the year because we thought they were stupid. They also said Pikeville girls are easy, WOW this is hilarious coming from Shelby Valley.

Geez people, who cares about the chants that much? All that matters is how the game turned out. If you want to discuss chants at least attempt to be more civil about it.

Pikeville I think fell asleep for most of the second half. They had done a very good job definsively in the first half and a very good job getting quality shots, but in the third quarter, their defense began to relax somewhat and they got really sloppy with the ball. If Pikeville can put a solid game together, they could contend for the region.

if you are going to talk about the chants go to the cheerleading forums.....how did the Adams kid do for Pville?

No practice lol... the cheerleaders did it earlier in the year and he jsut decided to do it.
And this was a fairly good called game, but why wasnt there a technical on Pikeville for throwing the toilet paper? Im not complaining, I just thought thats how it worked? lol.. The girls coach told me that the refs told the scorers table they didnt see who threw it. I really dont believe that lol, so just curious.

When that much hits the floor, it is just a warning not to do it again. If it would have happened again, it would have been a T against the crowd. I belive that Pikevilles student section was better than Valleys tonight. From where I was sitting, I really couldnt understand either of their chants. It was a packed gym, I would say it was the biggest crowd that I have seen in that gym in years. Great night of basketball from both teams.
As far as the game goes. One thing I have to say about Shelby Valley is that they keep their composure no matter what happens in a game. They play with the same intensity if they are up 10 or down 4. Very smart with the ball on the break and in half court. Last night they shot the lights out of it. I am going to guess they shot somewhere around 60% from the floor. That isnt a official stat, just a good guess.
Pikeville played great in the first half. In the second, they took a few forced shots, had a few uncontested turnovers. Shelby Valley gave them a few chances to get back in the game late in the 3rd and start of the 4th, but Pikeville didnt take advantage of them.
In the Paintsville/Magoffin thread, I have read by a few people that Paintsville wants Shelby Valley in the first round, be careful what you wish for because it could mean another year of one and out. IMO, Shelby Valley is the team to beat in the 15th.

Seems like Pikeville may have a problem with Valley's chants. The students from my school happen to love them!
