Another epic meltdown that we've all come to know.
Whitley goes into the bottom of the 7th up 6 to 3 and still finds a way to lose.
Surely Adams won't make it another year....

Adams coached a great game and did a great job, he can't make a routine throw for the kid or catch a routine throw for the 1st baseman!
Adams did a Great job!

Wow, I thought Whitley had a shot and appears they maybe should have won, but instead it's heartbreak again. Did Brock start on the mound for Corbin?

Yes, lasted 2 innings.
#24 came in in the 3rd and pitched rest of the game.

24 saved them. Whitley killed the Brock kid.
I've seen these meltdown way to many times.
I'm bet Whitley has lost in a similar fashion to this against Corbin in district over 30 times.
I don't ever remember Whitley being in the other end. Must be cursed.

Sounds like Whitley was well prepared because Brock has been outstanding in every game he has pitched other than the first game of the year. Estep has just been a closer this year and I doubt that he has pitched over 2 innings in any game, but apparently stepped up big time tonight for Corbin. Win and advance is all that matters right now.

I remember one time when Whitley turned the tables on Corbin in the 1st round of the District, but it was way before your time. Corbin was really strong that year and was the odds on favorite to win the region and playing at home, but decided not to pitch Horvath who had already signed to pitch for EKU. Whitley hung close and were only down 2 runs in the 7th inning and Corbin brought Horvath in, Whitley had 2 on with 2 outs and Roger Richardson came to the plate and hit a 3 run HR that hit off of Steve Bird's glove before hitting the scoreboard over at Rotary Park.
I believe that Corbin has been paying back ever since though.

Heck of a game tonight. Corbin couldn't get it going until it mattered. The drop at first base and the CF misplaying the ball was huge. Brock should be rested for tomorrow.

Great story!
I bet oldjacket remembers that.
In my entire lifetime, I don't remember a single time that Whitley was on the opposite end of one of these meltdowns. Not one.
They had this game won. I told my wife in the 5th inning that Corbin would win 7 to 6. It's inevitable. It happens every single time.
The worst one I remember was late 90s while I was actually at Whitley assuming I don't have my years messed up.....we were up several runs, almost double digits in the 7th inning.
Seems like junior peace (another all star baseball coach lol) decided that was enough runs. Subbed in Aaron Taylor to pitch, who for all his strengths in the outfield only threw about 50.
Long story short, Corbin won the ball game down almost double digits with 2 outs. I think that was the Corbin team with BJ Foley, the Cooke kid, etc.
It has to be considered a curse at this point.

Roger Richardson was a hell of a 2 sport athlete, baseball and basketball...

Hate that there had to be a loser in this game.Kyles is a Johnson Co. Boy who's dad is a good friend, but at the same time I am happy for Cody. He is my son's former college room mate.

Seems about right.
I'll have to do some digging.
