Russell 66 Elliott Co 56
#1
Russell beats Elliott by double figures despite fininshing the game without four of their starters. Gill did not play due to mono and may not be able to return for the post season. Blair, Vanhoose and Robinson all foul out in the 4th quarter. Blair sat most of the second half in foul trouble and then picked up his 5th foul early in the 4th quarter. Russell showed tonight that they have more depth than many believe.

Good games from Frazier, Ferguson and Turner from Russell. Knipp was the POG for Elliott. His long arms caused alot of problems around the basket for Russell.

Russells length really caused problems for Elliott's Offense as they found it difficult to get their shots off. Russell is able to match Elliott athletically, in quickness etc to prevent the drive to the basket. Russell also did a very good job of help D on Elliotts penetration & drives and if Elliott did get to the basket they found it difficult to get the shot. Maynard & Timmy Knipp had good 2nd halves to pull Elliott to within 7 a couple of times but could not get any closer. Russell was impressive last night & had the game played their way most of the night,

russell has great depth. frazier, mayberry, ferg are all very good and athletic coming off the bench. harvey can be a presence down low too.
