HPV vaccine yes or no?

What is everyone's opinion on this issue? Do you feel as if this should be mandatory for all girls in middle school? I will post my opinion later!

The issue is before the Kentucky's legislature once again!

I think that it is a great thing. I don't think that just because girls have the shot that they will go out and have sex, and in the 6th grade should they really be thinking about that? Kids are going to have sex whether they have the shot or not.

I agree with Cali, getting a shot isn't going to change a whether or not a girl has sex. If I recall correctly the HPV Vaccine isn't for birth control or anything like that so wy would that make them go have sex more? It's to protect femals from the HPV virus that causes cervical cancer. My mom want's me to have it done but I don't know...

HPV is a really sensitive issue for me right now because I just found out at 7 this evening that my best friend has it. I don't think that it should be REQUIRED for a girl to have the shot but it would be great if parents and their daughters were educated about it and good make a good informed decision. My friend is negative for cancer, we also found that out today but it could happen in the future and that is a scary thought.

My aunt has either cervical or utarian cancer and my mom had bone cancer so yeah it is a really scary thought. My mom wants me to get the shot but I don't know... I'm terrified of needles...ironic huh..

DTfan...I tought I read somewhere that you had peircings??? Tattoos???

Why not have a series of shots that could save your life in the future???

My daughter is scheduled to have her first one next month.

The vaccination is actually three shots given every three months.

Personally, I don't believe these should be legislated. I just don't understand why anyone would not want to protect themselves.

My daughter will be scheduled first chance I get. Anything to protect my daughter from any form of cancer. I just wished they would come out with a shot to protect Dads from monthly cycles!!! LOL!!

I don't have a tattoo but I want one...highly doubted that I"ll get it. I have ONE piercing and that's my belly button and I've had it done for 4 years now. I do have a fear of needles...I HATE needles...as far as piercings go as long as I don't see the needle then I'm okay. That's why I'm so hesitate in getting the industrial piercing, because I'm afraid of the needle.

As for the HPV vaccine, I might get it...it depends. The shot doesnt prevent all types of cervical cancer so you could get the shots and still end up getting the cancer.

I probably won't get the shot but my friend's mother just came home today from her doctor's appointment and they had apparently talked about it because she is making her get it.

#14
I see no problem with it, but the parents should make the choice!

Doesn't it say in the article that 80% of women will have it by the time they're 50? That's a HUGE percentage. I think that girls should have it. You could have it right now and not have any signs or symptoms.
