Harlan 51 Paintsville 38
#1
How about the Lady Dragons? According to a number of posters Paintsville is the #1 team in the mountains. I didn't get to see the game but losing to a team ranked 4th or 5th in the 13th region surely wasn't expected. Congratulations to Coach Akal and his Dragons.

NOT one poster ever said the Lady Tigers were #1.
Everyone who knows anything bout basketball knew that the Lady Tigers could get beat today. Harlan has a good team. We did what we wanted. Hold Brock and King to their averages. Which we did. We only had 8 turnovers on the night to 13 for Harlan.

Shooting 14/54 (25%) from the field and 8/15 from the line sure doesn't help anything.
11 pts from 4 starters don't help either. 0 from your leading scorer.

No excuses though...it happens. We fought and clawed and stayed in it just couldn't get anything to fall and forced some shots when we had our chances.
Harlan just took advantage and beat us.
Hats off to The Lady Dragons!

Good Luck to Harlan! Hope you win it all!

Guy from SV just got through telling me "I told you so" ( about Paintsville peaking too early) the 57th has 2 really good teams.

Valley has a great shot of winning it, but so does Paintsville.
You can't say they peaked to early after one game against a good team IMO
They have only lost to one Ky team

I personally don't believe in this peaking theory. I don't foresee any major upsets in the girls 15th region. The 14th may be a whole different story. Am I right FatPat?

I appreciate you congratulating HARLAN on the win but come on now, go back and read the long post you made about the rankings and how the WYMT guys didn't know what they were doing. You may not have said paintsville should be #1 in the mountains but you certainly acted like WYMT was crazy to not have them ranked higher than they did.

Now you come on and go back and reread ALL my post. You will see that my whole beef was the simple fact that WYMT moved North Laurel ahead of us after we had previously beaten them by 33 points.

Now...Do I still think we are the #2 Team in the Mountains? Yes I do.....JMO. BUT, we lost and we will drop. I would almost bet you that we will drop way down. Below the other teams that we have previously beaten.

BUT, you know what. I nor anyone else could careless. We have a couple more goals left to complete this season and I can promise you.

The Mountain Top 10 isn't even a flicker of a thought in any minds from here on out.

Again...Good Luck the rest of the way. Maybe we can meet again in the future.....

“Relax, all right? Don’t try to strike everybody out. Strikeouts are boring! Besides that, they’re fascist. Throw some ground balls – it’s more democratic.”

The peaking theory is definitely real.... In the 30 years I've watched the game, I have seen teams each year start out on fire and burn out. The great coaches find away to not let that happen.

The more I watch the games and follow the scores the more I realize I don't know squat hahahahaha

Paintsville will be fine. These girls have been playing together for years. No burn out with them in my opinion. Congrats to both teams.

Maybe I've missed something here, but Harlan is a good team, 17-5 actually. They've beaten some good teams as well. Paintsville still only has 1 loss to a KY team and that was to a good Harlan team. It's not like they lost to Red Bird in the All A Classic here...

Paintsville is still the top team in the 15th and will be just fine I am sure.

We will see who has the most wins at end of season. SV had another close one tonight. Most dominate team in 15th again this year.
