i think honaker becuz of his speed and strong arm.....I do believe Branham will be a good QB eventually tho...

Take Honaker any day over Branham

Ill take Honaker because it would be too hard to change their backfield. With Tim, Ted, and Daniel Harmon back there, I dont see it being too much different from last year.

Honaker no ? he has a good arm and speed... dont know much of anything about branham, I just know honaker is a athlete, and like A Decent Lineman said it would be too hard to decide there backs

With their offense, I would say Honaker. Don't know much about Blake yet. If he is anything like his brother than he will be a great QB. It took Matt till about his junior year to develope though.

I'm pretty sure the offense they ran last year was more of a matter of NECESSITY (Mayo going down in first game) than something they're going to do from here on out.
However, from the JV and Varsity games I was able to see last year, I can't see them ever going to a "pass-first offense" with ANY of the quarterbacks they have there now and considering they have maybe the best stable of running backs around (honaker, honaker, harmon...and there were a couple of younger kids that played mainly defense that could also be threats running the ball too macanallan, jackson, and the kid that played free safety).

I will still say Honaker bcuz Pikeville wont want to change their offense, idk why cuz it is weird, but with Daniel Harmon, Tim Honaker, and Ted Honaker in the backfield....I think that they will leave Honaker there because he has way more game expirience than blake so.....

Honaker

I think they WILL...there's a chance now to develop someone to quarterback a more "traditional" offense and most of their strongest OL is graduating -- that offense was effective because it was a "power" offense; you need VERY strong linemen to do that basically every play.

That is why I dont think Pikeville will be as strong next year as last year. Their best lineman have graduated.......and they still have that freak offense. IF they change their offense over completely it would turn nxt season into a rebuilding year for the panthers IMO. But, I hope they can develop Blake into a good QB and have a good offense next year.....:1:

It didn't really take him that long to develop. He just had to sit and learn from another QB legend, Ben Howard. Dang they were both unreal!

Branham gives Pikeville more options IMO!
02-15-2007, 01:56 PM
Honaker

I think there are BIG "O" changes this year...like it was said, this years O was needed to make up for mayo's loss...
on another note, Mayo is STILL stayin stronig in OS weights...suprising as a senior and injured:Clap:

What options are you talking about? Blake comes from a good mold but lacks the arm strength, accuracy, and mobility to start this year. It's not fair to compare him to his brother. Matt is only one of the top two passing QB to ever come through PHS.

Honaker is basically a RB at the QB position...Pikeville doesnt pass a lot, the two or three times they did against us they were picked. Honaker, Honaker, and Harmon have a weird offense that runs the ball, Pikeville cannot pass.

Power offence?
This is no power offence...power offences run in the "I" formationand dont try to trick yiou every play like this offence does
this offence's purpouse is to trick people
its almost like coach jackson is afraid to run straight at someone cuz he knows that his offensive live is not good enough to do that
his offence and whole system for that matter is made for a big school with alot of people and players on the team
this offence just will never work at pikeville
EVER!!!

i am sorry for the spelling mistakes
but this system is still not good at all for pikeville and no one can say that it is because in his two years at pikeville and job in oldham Co. he still has yet to win a big game against a good team
we demollished hazard in the regular season this year but when it mattered he choked
and last year changed quarterbacks in mid-season and that just ruined the timeing of everything on the offensive side of the ball...
if he was going to put mayo at qb he should have done it at the beginning of the year
well...i guess that is just what bad coaches do...
