East Jessamine @ Clay County
#1
Thoughts?

Tigers by around Eleventy Billion. The trip gets to East and from what I've heard their not as good as they have been. In all honesty, us by 7 at home.
#3
IF Clay can stop the fullback dive and the QB keepers, then I really like their chances to come away with the win tonight. East is not a passing team and they struggle defending the pass as well. IF the Clay defense will pin their ears back and go....It should be a fun night for the Tigers. Those are two mighty big IF's though! I just pray for NO MORE injuries!!!

Current Tiger Assistant Eugene Hensley and a couple local football guru's made that hire. Take that for what it's worth.

Long year for Tiggers

I'm afraid you may be right. If we don't get a win this week we might not get another.
#12
Hiring Browne would have gotten us in the same predicament with Combs. He won't move to Clay county. Or do you think they will hire his wife as a administrator in Clay county?
#13
Who do yall think they will hire?
#14
Bert Browne?
#15
east 22 clay 18 Is this Bert Browne that coach at Perry Central

The One and ONLY!

I heard he was interested in it before, not so sure he would want it after they didn't even interview him. That would be my thought if I was him.
#18
I'd say that would be the sentiment of a lot of the interested coaches that checked this job out last time. It was just embarrassing that such a crew of clueless people were allowed to control the hire last time out. Looking at where the job is right now I am not sure there is anything that brings in a coach. Eddie may be the guy for the long haul, but I don't see him staying at it for years he's already got some age on him, maybe bring in a young inexperienced coach and let Eddie train him to take over after he gives it up.

Nick Saban couldn't make a lot of the football "experts" in Clay County happy. Coaches were not exactly beating down the door when the job was open. The Combs hire didn't work out but quit beating a dead horse and move on.

I'm just a guy that has to be right and I preached everything that came to fruition from day one but nobody would listen.. Are we just doomed for football failure here? What do you think?

Combs wasn't hired to be the coach. He was hired to do what certain people wanted him to do. That's the reason no one else was interviewed. Same reason for the basketball coaching change, who else was interviewed for that job? Sad direction our athletics are going in because of a select few.
Now for a prediction on the rest of our season. With Wayne County coming up next week start looking for basketball players to find reasons to sit out. And with Rockcastle being the senior night game I don't know who will walk the field in uniform.

You can win football games in CC! They have some good looking kids this year and last year and it is a shame they aren't better than they are! Go get a good coach that is proven and give him what he needs and the tigers will win. You don't need to go get some young unproven coach period cut. Again who gives a crap where he is from and all that crap if you go get a coach that is proven he will get the job done.

Maybe some of you Clay County faithful should start a new thread about Clay County vs West Jessamine this week. If you guys want I will Go Tigers. :Cheerlead

So proven Coach? Is that coach going to bring in his "own" people? I will go out on a limb and say the people of Clay will not like their own people (the people needing jobs now that have the education) being without a job because of football. Combs tried to bring in a few coaches and was shot down.

Getting a football coach that wont move to the area is horrible idea. I'll coach ya son but I can't live in your hometown. GREAT message to players! Will that person be there on grade school night and Saturday mourning because trust me. It will need to start there. Will they have the weight room open on snow days, during the summer?

Clay needs a coach that is proven in character, one of their OWN, and is well liked in their community. That person will apply and bring Clay back to being respectable.

Side note, I think Coach Smith is doing a great job!!

Not sure if we can find a guy like that and probably even lesser chance of pulling him to Clay. I think Eddie is doing an okay job, I just don't believe he is the long term fix, he's probably forgotten more football than most around here will ever know.

I think at this point the community and players have been consistently burnt by outta towners that they don't want to go that route if the coach want's to continue to be from out of town. I think as a coach you need to be part of the community on a regular basis. Like CC Football says, on a snow day are you going to do the little things like open the weight room, film on weekends, be a presence at the youth level, JV games, etc etc if it's an 1+ drive? Some would, but they wouldn't stick around very long because they would be looking for something more convenient for them.
#29
It's not the out of towners burning the community and players it's the same people hiring them. Combs and Roark was here one year each. Next excuse. The state needs to come take over the Clay County school system. Cause it is painfully clear the in towners are failing miserably.

I still think the best option is for somebody young to come in and work and learn some football under Eddie for a couple years before being turned loose with it. Ed is doing okay, but I don't see him being around for the long haul like I've said. Other than that I am not sure what the best option is, it's going to have to be somebody that's going to stick around or we are fighting this same battle every year.
