where is the press
#1
went to the lady hawk shootout and although there were some very good teams there was no one there to cover the games.I guess central needs to call and let them know whats going on. There were some good things to see,to bad no one will know.Valley,Belfry,Maggofin and Central all played well ,but the first two with alot more competetion.Glad to see Central play better and the other Ratliff girl was all over the floor, but it's going to take a total team effort to stay with Belfry without Haley. If Central will attack the press with more than two girls and try to score they may do better.Well just keep playing hard and together and it will work out.

There are probably at a boy's game. If you notice all you see in the local papers are the boy's games. If they do write something about the girls there usually aren't any pictures or are overshawdoed by the boy's write up. The same for the local radio stations. They boy's games are always announced.

I also agree with you on that Central should have contacted area newspapers, but with Haley being out, I guess their coach saw no need to contact them.

I know personally that the local radio stations(WDHR,WPKE) were not informed of the schedule or lineup for the Hawk Classic, even though it was requested.

As far as boys v girls game coverage on radio, advertisers will pay for boys games but not girls games....if you want girls games covered on the air, find some businesses to sponsor it.

I also know that ALL schools have been asked to reports results to the local media and it doesn't happen.

I can't say anything about any other stations around the area, but I do know that WRLV 106.5FM in Salyersville covers just as many girls games as boys. They give fair coverage for both and the sponsors are happy to include both teams, as well as baseball, softball and football. They might not be the biggest or best, but they are equal in boys and girls sports. They are a true "TEAM" station for Magoffin Co.

I have to disagree with you on this one. Valley has been in the paper alot - with good pics too. I know this is just one team - but that's how it goes. Newspapers print what sells. Everyone wants toread about the teams everyone's talking about. Yea, I know I 'm biased cause I'm a Valley fan. But I want to give credit where its due.

As far as the radio stations, I've been really disgusted about that. Someone earlier was right though - we need to get out there and ask businesses to support the teams. ANybody know how much it would cost to have a game aired?
