PT has new football coach
#1
It has been confirmed that Paducah-Tilghman has a new head football coach. Kirk Barber is the new hire. He is a former PT standout and former NY Jet. It is for sure that Randy Wyatt will not be back and it will be interesting to see if PT becomes a tornado again or a slight wind storm.

Kurt is a former assistant at Campbellsville under Perry Thomas, and may have coached briefly at Utah, and was all state at PT and played college ball at USC where he was all Pac-10 for two years. He also played for three NFL teams.

He was seen at a few preseason Tilghman practices during 2011 year. The question is how many assistants, if any, will be be able to bring, and how will not having spring practice help or hurt.

IMHO - he has some hard ground to plow and work in a new QB. Hope he does well but the problems at PT do not seem to be getting much better.

I think he may be able to get the natives behind him since he is a huge part of their programs history. I also think he could possibly get some of the flow of players to McCracken reversed back. I also think he may be able to use his NFL connections to bring money to the program. I still think he has a few years ahead of him before he will be able to stop the longest win streak in the Mayfield rivalry from getting larger.

Barber was a heck of a football player. Tilghman put several players in the NFL, back in the day. I think it's a great hire.

Don't bet against seeing Wyatt on staff-

IMO it might be a positive to have Wyatt on the staff. It would help to eliminate the issue that Wyatt and Rogers had about sharing time during track season.
The only caveat is I don't see him as a coordinator. I think he would do well as a secondary coach or something similar. As long as it is clear to all involved who is in charge of the ship.

I don't see how it could possibly be a good thing for Wyatt to be on the staff. He had the most undisciplined group that I have ever seen and fed on controversy it seemed. Besides that, with the talent he had in 2010 and he still couldn't win that game at Mayfield, crazy.

If Wyatt is on the staff then nothing really changes. PT stays mired in underachievement. Hopefully, Barber moves on without him.

Wyatt is on the Staff officially as per the Paducah Sun today, Oh My.

What is his role with the team. I know, he could be the penalty specialist. God knows he knows how to lead his team to getting more of them than any team I have ever seen.
