Let me start by saying I think Whitney Creech is the best player in Ky. I also think she should be held in even higher regard for staying at Jenkins when she could have went anywhere she wanted to go. That isn't something you see in this day and time very often.
I have to say though that I don't see the point in playing the same team 2 times in one night and beating them that bad. It might have had to be played for seeding I don't know but I would have held the ball after getting up 50 and just let the clock run out. To score 111 in a girls game with a running clock after getting a 35 point lead would require pressing the whole game I would think which would be very wrong. Again I'm not saying anything bad about Miss Creech. I do think the coaches should have handled things differently. No doubt Jenkins has been on the other side of a lot of bad beatings in the past which is why they should know how that feels.

Also, give the other kids a chance to play on Jenkins if you are winning by this margin. In my opinion, this is disgrace.

I am surprised these games were even played. According to the KHSAA scoreboard, Cordia forfeited their previous 3 games, to Knott Central, Letcher Central and Riverside Christian.

That goes to show what type of coaches Jenkins has. They are only worried about one player instead of the other players on the team. I just don't understand why the parents would even let their girls play on this team. It's a shame they would do that to Cordia! I would be embarrassed!

It would be a help if Cordia would have Title IX equity as well.

According to a H/L article from several days ago, an earlier game with Cordia was postponed and one of these games, I would guess, was the makeup game for that. Also, the H/L article shows that a game with Shelby Valley and one with Paintsville were canceled. I think those were missed because of bad weather, as probably was the first Cordia game.

Let's get some facts straight. Cordia is a District team with Jenkins. They chose to come to Jenkins and play these games instead of taking the forfeit. The coaches at Jenkins let Creech and Stambaugh get their averages and pulled them out. That score was the other girls playing. The coaches even told the girls they had to pass the ball five times before a shot went off. Don't you think Creech could have broken the single game scoring record without breaking a sweat but she is to good of an athlete and the coaches are too good to let that happen. Look at her point totals for those games. I believe they were 41 and 52. The reason these games were played on the same night is because this is the last week before District. There was no other choice. Our fans cheered for their team and tried to encourage them. Don't talk about things if you don't have the facts.

Thanks for the information. That's exactly the reason I did not comment on the scores. I didn't have any facts. But I can also understand why some of the commenters above wondered what happened just looking at the scores. I assumed that Creech could have easily gotten the single game scoring record in one of these games but didn't know if she did or not since I had seen no breakdown. Actually since she was averaging 50.9 points a game, she scored 9 points less than her season average that night. She would have needed to score 102 points that night just to maintain her average.

Cordia forfeited to LCC in a district game.

This is a sham. All you people defending Jenkins are as bad as they are for doing this to a team. First off who has ever heard of teams playing twice in one day against the same team? Plus a district game? Plus games that the team they are playing has forfeited the past few? Everyone from the AD down at Jenkins should be fired. It utterly amazes me that some of you would condone this. Better hope ESPN or Fox or any national media dont get hold of this.
Nothing more than stat padding at the expense of kids who are the pawn in this.

To let Creech get her average is a travesty against a team like this. The coach should be fired. We will see if the coach stays on after this year. That will tell the tell about how much she loves Jenkins. Heard today too that the parents there are really mad about this year and are going to demand a change for the way the other kids have been treated.

Kinda reminds me of the old Ervin Stepp days at Phelps.

The cordia team is not very good this season! Due to the fact that cordia has forfeited several games ,in which bad weather was not a factor ,the boys played there games, then I assuming that this was attempt with the help of cordia to pad creeches total points record, the first thing is why play twice in one day? Second why in the world play this game unless it to pad her total points especially two games against at very very poor team! What if she had broker her ankle or arm in this game?? It happens! Then the dreams of Jenkins going to the region would have been over!! Against that team , she should have started an been pulled out at the first dead ball, let some those girls play that didn't get any playing time ! I was pulling all the way for these girls! But after this stunt! A whole lot of people who were in Jenkins corner will not be! It's not the girls fault!! She wants to play she a child! It's the parent an the coaching staffs, just like always an adult gets in the way of kids having fun!! Shame on the adults! Showing children the wrong examples!!! That's what's wrong with this world!! They are other children on that team that deserves playing time ! Especially bin a game like this ! Shame on Jenkins !! U have given a black eye to small schools across the country!!

Wasn't this games played after the district meeting and seeding had been set in this meeting?

You hear crickets from the Jenkins supporters now on this. This is terrible. Never heard of anything like this before and just goes to show you what has went on for a "few" years at the expense of the kids there.
02-23-2016, 06:03 PM
Ever wonder what it would be like if teams didn't even keep track of individual points for kids and just tallied the game score and kept fouls. May help the TEAM Concept a little better. Cant stand it when a kid walks up to the score keeper and asks them how many points did they have.
02-23-2016, 09:04 PM
Well the coaches at Jenkins don't keep their jobs for "giving everyone a fair chance" and "playing every player equally". They keep their jobs by getting W's and putting kids in college.

I really don't like a score that is this weighted. Never did.
That being said, I do remember a couple of times when 2 teams played 2 varsity games in one night. One of those happened when I was in high school, and another happened in the early 70s. (see HCS....I CAN remember when it's 40 years ago!!)
It appears to me that Cordia agreed to this arrangement. After all, they did forfeit other games...other DISTRICT games.
If they were pawns in stat padding (which I don't believe for one second), then they were willing participants. If Jenkins coaching staff had chosen to do so, they could've easily allowed Whitney to score enough points to break the single game record.
I feel badly for Cordia's team, but this is big girl basketball. Equal playing time is pretty much out the window in high school level sports.
Those of you with an agenda, please be careful how you state your concerns. I won't allow players to be objectified by idle gossip or baseless rumors.

Jenkins did no such thing of running the score up, if anyone on here had went to ESPN they would have laughed in your face. Creech easily could have broke records but to keep the game from a blow out they sat her on the bench. Besides, Cordia agreed to play both games in one day so don't get mad for the teams to do what they did.
Now, I wish some people on here had some respect. Mad there child rides the bench or not good enough to score 50 points a game. Jealousy is so bad on here it's hard to even read, but people sure know how to make themselves look stupid. Learn something about basketball before you start posting stuff that the facts of the matter disprove your argument.
Congrats to Creech on all your accomplishments and good luck in district. We want to see you go far in the tourney so you can increase your state scoring record. You deserve Miss KY!

What is wrong with you people. The reason Cordia forfeited those games has nothing to do with the fact they agreed to come to Jenkins. The parents are not mad about equal playing time because the players get an equal amount if time except the seventh graders that just started. Why are you all trying to shame a team for winning. If you had a player that was as great as Creech you would let her get her average. I wish I had a copy of the scorebook to show you that every girl on Jenkins team scored multiple times. I feel bad for the Cordia girls but you don't see no one on here defending the Jenkins boys team. They only won one game and every team they played run the score up on them. It all boils down to jealously. Creech is the real deal and has earned the right to get her average in points. Shame on you as adults for getting on here and bad mouthing kids. Let them play and support them.
02-24-2016, 05:44 PM
Holding the ball when you get up by a certain amount would be FAR more embarrassing for the team who gets beat this badly than having the game continue to be played the way it should be played.

First off Granny Bear nobody is saying a bad word about Creech. You need to read the thread a little closer.
Second I will say again, anyone who supports this travesty by the Jenkins coaches and whoever is in charge are nuts. Its a shame the kids are getting used like this. Shame shame shame!

I didn't say you were talking badly about Creech. (guilty conscience?)
But you are getting close...ie travesty, a shame, using kids etc.
I'm just letting you and the other posters know that I won't tolerate an attack on any player that is obviously a vendetta.

What I have said is in no way a vendetta against any kid and I cant see for the life of me where you can even get that.
Im calling out adults who are using kids. Big difference.

Should have kept creech and stambaugh on bench unless game got close, let the other girls have their moment. Kudos to the lions for playing
