I wasn't there but received score updates. Maybe mercer shows they can be beat. Maybe lol

Wow. That is basically like a 25 point win anywhere else. Very nice win for Mercer.

Wayne co got cheated. Mercer was 19-26 from the line Wayne was only 19-20.
It was a 5 point game 1/2 way thru the 4th quarter.

Couple points here. Look at the quarter scores and the stats. Mercer led by 9 at the half. Wayne made a run late in the third and Mercer pulled away again in the 4th.
As for FT's attempted, compare the two teams 3 point FG attempts. I believe Wayne shot 30 threes. Mercer shot about a third that many. That doesn't equate to getting to the line often. My take would be it's surprising they got to the line 20 times. That's not a screw job by the refs. It's an indication of the differing styles the 2 teams played.

"We got cheated.." -every Wayne county fan when they lose at home. I'm sorry but Coach Woods is your coach; I promise you didn't get cheated by 12th region officials.

objective facts which can be used to determine future planning for better performance
might view it your way. In fact, Wayne's coach might actually think, Our good
free throw shooting team is not getting to the line enough against Mercer. Maybe
risking a few ego deflating shot blocks on drives to the basket is a better strategy
than hoping for a higher 3 point percentage. Who knows? Then, Mercer might
not be so hasty on closing out. Then we would have more open shots. And we
might get 'em in foul trouble making our drives to the hole much less stuff
worthy. Or rather than looking at those boring numbers and becoming one
of those nerds he might say: Bad Luck. We just weren't hittin' our threes
tonight. Those two refs have never liked us either. They stuck it to us
at home, 27 to 20 will get you beat ever time. But I'll tell you, When the
day comes that I have to get me a Ballard player and quit playin' our
Wayne County exciting basketball, that'll be the day I retire.

I wasn't at the game and I don't really feel like Wayne got cheated because mercer shot 6 more free throws.
I would take Coach Woods over any coach in the state

You know, I just don't get the "Wayne cheats at home" mantra I see on these boards. Wayne has had some great teams over the years that also beat the teams that whine about "cheating" at their home as well. So were the refs in Wayne's pocket at the away games too? Hogwash.
Wayne got beat by a better team last night...plain and simple. No whining or excuses from this fan. Mercer has a great team and their fans travel well. It was a great atmosphere for a mid January game.

Congrats to Mercer. Congrats to Wayne for keeping it close. Usually the team trailing late shoots less free throws because they have to foul at the end of the game. 6 free throws is not a large difference. Sounds like some whining going on. Does anybody want some cheese to with their wine.

Mercer is a very strong team this year. Not only in the region but they could make some serious noise at Rupp.

Well, you had it right for about 3/4 of your post. A nerd or good coach, whichever you want to call them, makes adjustments both in game and throughout the season. But, if style is more important than substance (or wins), then I can see why you would think that way.
I saw this game. 27 free throws to 20 and Mercer shot at least 8 in the last 2 minutes. Paints a little different picture.
The Ballard transfer? Hahahaha. Your whole post is sour grapes. I guess you didn't have to go nearly as far to get your 6'8" 250 transfer! The hypocrisy astounds me!

Wayne shot terrible, and I'm talking the missed shots with no hands in their face. Blevins shot bad because of bigger defender's. We can't guard a fence post in mam to man, and that is the reason we lost. But that is typical Coach Woods, and it will be adjusted if we play them again. Not saying the outcome will be different but this game didn't mean anything in the big picture, and I have alot of confidence after missing alot of open shots that we usually hit, and playing man to man entire game and keeping it close. Calls and no calls both ways, as with any game I have seen. Simple, Mercer is a good team and beat us. Good luck Titans and I hope to get to beat you in the region finals!
