Putting up 30 against Oak Hill Academy and 35 against a good JUCO team?!?! That kid would have tore the 14th region and the state up this year! I know he has commited but the kid will get some high(er) D-I offers before the season is over.

He made the smart move. Probably would have had about the same year as last had he stayed at PCC.

The kid is a WARRIOR. Congratulations Braxton!!!! We miss you man!

Makes me wonder how he hasn't gotten any higher offers. Some kids in the state have gotten better offers but they are not even close to Braxton as players.

Wow!! Congrats Braxton. Good luck on your college choice. I'm sure you will have many to choose from.

He would have slayed this year at Perry...
but there was more to gain by going elsewhere.

If he's going to stick with his commitment to Miami OH, I disagree. What's he really going to gain? Why not stay and cement your legacy as an Eastern Kentucky icon?
I've said for a long time he will fare better than that other 2016 Kentucky PG thats always ranked higher than him. And there's little question that he will. The boy can flat out play the game, and he goes about it without the look at me attitude that so many kids have these days. He will have a grea college career at Miami!

Glad to see him have success. Smart move getting out of the 14th

There's always the option of decommitting and switching schools like Camron Justice did, but I still think there's more to gain by playing a club schedule against the bigger schools in respect to getting prepared for the college schedule and competition.
It's all according to what he deems important: Being Perry County's hero? Or performing well in college?
From what I can tell, the kid wants to get minutes all for years.

I dont understand why he wouldn't stay at Perry and try to get to the State Tournament - Perry could have beefed up schedule if he stayed - but, its his decision and wish him the best, he is a heckuva player

This is what is wrong with eastern ky basketball. People think it is the center of the universe. Getting perry co to the state tournament would not help his college stock. Eastern ky is basketball crazy and they are not genetically engineered to compete in basketball. If people would concentrate more on football and baseball kinds in the 14th would be better set up for success. Beverly made a good move for Beverly IMO.

Actually my opinion is quite opposite of the "center of the universe' reference you make: I still believe that sports can teach (or help reinforce) many great life lessons including: commitment, perseverance, and goal attainment. He left the school (and community) that supported him for most of his life and lost his senior year at that school, and an opportunity to play in the state tournament. But, as I said, that is his choice and Im sure there were many factors he considered and it wasn't an easy choice. But, good luck to him as Im sure he made the choice that was best for him.

Its a big world we live in. Braxton gave it his all for Perry County since he has been a 7th grader. There wasnt any guarantees he would go to state this year either. What if Cordia got eligible? Roadblock. If hed stayed, Cordia would probably eligible. Who knows. Braxton gets to play against the best high school basketball players in the country now. He is getting to go all over the country and see new things. I for one cant blame him a bit, I am glad to see the kid living his life to the fullest. Not holding back. Braxton has done the right thing. Perry Central still has a team last time I checked and they did long before Braxton was around. Life will go on.

At the end of the day, Beverly made a decision that was best for him. I'm sure he is appreciative of all the fans that wanted him to stay and make a run for the 14th region title, but he has to move forward with his career. He is doing some great things. With that said, I like what I'm seeing with Perry so far. We have some voids to fill and need a lot of polishing, but this team will be playing extremely hard and will be in the hunt.

If he wants a better offer, he did the right thing. If he's happy with the Miami offer, don't really understand it, but he'll get some good competition and travel the country. If he's happy that's all that matters.

Braxton made the best decision for himself by transferring to Hargrave. The kid wants to be pushed physically to be ready for college and who can really blame him? He wants to become the best player he can be and transferring to Hargrave will get him on that path. Mr. Basketball is a great honor but in the end it's just a title. Before Camron Justice who can tell me where the last 10 are? Besides Elisha coaching at JBS and let's not forget he won Mr. Basketball and the state tourney with Shelby Valley. Snider is doing OK at Louisville but that's about it. Beverly is a terrific player but if he stayed who's to say he wouldn't have won that title? From what I hear, Quentin Goodin is a lock for it. Transferring to Hargrave gives him 10x better exposure and makes him 10x better as a player. Support his decision 100%!

Kids need to do what is best for them.

Think its safe to say that Braxton isnt coming back. Let it go. Braxtons the best player I have ever saw come from here period. Perry is undefeated without him. Teams move on.
12-27-2015, 06:47 PM
The level of competition at Hardgave gives him a better understanding and copetition level he will face in college....He would have gained if staying at Perry probably all time state leading scorer, maybe a sweet 16 berth, and Perry would have played in KAing of the Bluegrass and the Tournament their in this week. But overall it was a good move for him to be ready for college next fall

he has signed with Miami ( OH )
