Just cause the scoreboard says 02 to 0 doesn't mean they scored 2 points. It means they no room to put 3 digits up there.

Pikeville's District gives them such an advantage heading into playoffs whether anybody will admit it or not. They basically get 3 additional bye weeks each year to rest their starters by playing South Floyd, Jenkins, and Phelps. Most teams don't have that luxury.

They actually just got moved from a 3 team district to 5, and while they were in the 3 team district everyone complained about THAT too, being an advantage. So they're damned if they do, damned if they don't. If you have a problem with it, I'd advise focusing on trying to increase the competitiveness of the other schools rather than griping about Pikeville's district. Especially if you're a fan of one of those other schools.

Wouldnt be surprised to see Pikeville rest Pugh
At the risk of having this used against me I am going to say I still don't think he was 100% against Belfry and his hip is still giving him some problems. The Panthers rested him against Sheldon Clark and with Hazard coming up I think they give him another week off to be as close to ready as possible... then a lighten workload against overmatched Phelps and Jenkins to limit contact heading into the playoffs.
When Pugh is 100% he has explosion in his change of direction and right now that seems to be lacking.
If I am Pikeville I am working my new QB to death in the passing game to get timing down..I am also experimenting with ways to get the ball in Jarrell's hands in new ways. I am also toying with different ways to run Rhodes and Charles so that when Pugh is back I have some additional options and if nothing else I am forcing teams down the road to spend time game planning or those options they see on film.

So easy to strike a nerve with Pikevull fans. I never said they had any say in it did I? I just said it was an unspoken advantage to have basically 3 weeks off compared to other schools. You should be happy about it big guy.

Pikeville can't help there district. But there titles could be cut in half since adding Hazard back to the district.

Not really true:
District 1: Crittenden County, Fulton City, Fulton County, Russellville
Russellville has two easy games and a pretty mediocre Crittenden County. Unlike Pikeville they only have a 4 team Disirct which gives them flexibility to schedule whoever they want for an extra Non-District game to be prepare them.
District 2 âBethlehem, Campbellsville, Caverna, Fort Knox
Campbellsville has basically the same exact scenario as Russellville.. one mediocre team and two awful teams and a bonus game to schedule as they wish
District 5 â Berea, Bishop Brossart, Bracken County, Nicholas County, Paris
5 team district but very weak... Paris' toughest opponent is Bishop Brossart who is nowhere as good as Hazard
District 6 â Fairview, Paintsville, Raceland
Tough as nails District, but only three teams. Two more games to schedule for coaches however they best see fit to help their team's playoff push.
I am sure if you asked the Pikeville staff they would much rather prefer playing one of those districts to give them the flexibility to best prepare for the post season.

Most teams don't have that luxury.I really see it as a disadvantage to be honest. No offense to Jenkins, SF, Phelps or anyone else. But playing them consecutively like this late in the year can cause our players to develop bad habits in the game, in practice, in mental preparation... Right before playoff time! I'd be willing to bet even Coach Mac himself would tell you that those weeks are harder to keep his team focused than it is against the Belfrys and Paintsvilles of the world....

Allen Central in place of Jenkins. Now Hazard takes Allen Centrals place as they move up to 2a.

Totally agree. If any football team has hopes and aspirations to rise above, and do better they do want the best competition available. There's a bigger prize out there, and that's not just getting a few bye weeks. Those weaker teams have to be played, and again no offence to them.

You should be happy about it big guy.Because it has been beat to death. You've got freaking Lawrence County bypassing THREE districts to join this one. They actually asked to join this district in all sports (except football of course). Everyone whines and moans every year that "Pikeville has an unfair advantage blah blah blah". Pikeville would rather play a tough schedule and get ready for the playoffs every year. At least they don't petition the KHSAA to skip past two or three closer districts just to try and have some weaker competition. Why do you think Pikeville annually plays teams like Belfry, Middlesboro, Paintsville, Russell, Prestonsburg, etc? Because it makes them better. So you see an "unfair advantage" and everyone else who is objective enough to sit back and look says "well, not really, because they have a tough schedule every year in non district games". About the only advantage to playing a Jenkins, Phelps, et al is to get playing time for our JV, which basically keeps us from having to schedule 5 or 6 JV games to try and get the depth some work to develop them more with.
