WOW...............I didnt know schools could fly confederate flags
12-21-2006, 06:55 PM
Both schools seem to have pretty good arguments about the subject
12-21-2006, 06:57 PM
That's ridiculous!
12-21-2006, 07:04 PM
I dont think schools should be allowed to fly the confederate flag because of what it represents. If schools are allowed to fly confederate flag, then why dont we just use Nazi flags as mascots to.

I agree I dont think they should fly it because of what it represents :dontthink

What does it represent? The Confederate States of America or maybe the History of their school. I just don't see how it represents Slavery. Maybe it's just me? The flag flies in front of the South Carolina Capital Building. What is wrong with it?
12-21-2006, 07:17 PM
the confederate flag represents the south and the south wanted slavery thats just the way it seems to me
12-21-2006, 07:22 PM
THE SOUTH LOST THE WAR....That war was mostly about slavery so i dont think it should fly anywhere including a capital building.I know i would be ashamed to go to school with the confederate flag flying high.

Sounds like a couple of lawyer buddies making a pact together. School Board member, lawyer and village idiot Mickey McGuire persuades fellow lawyer and David School head coach Ned Pillersdorf to not play Allen Central after that civil rights group came to the county this week saying schools with black students shouldn't be made to play AC.
Absolutely ridiculous. They've already signed a contract to play and they have to honor it.
The sad part is that McGuire, who is an outgoing member of the board and didn't bother to attend this weeks meeting, left this mess for the rest to cleanup as an "up yours" gift.
This needs to be let go before it gets even more out of hand.

I can understand that at AC the flag is used represent the soldiors in the war but many people relate the confederate flag to slavery thats all im saying
12-21-2006, 07:27 PM
I agree that David should stii play AC
12-21-2006, 07:30 PM
The Civil War wasnt just about slavery. The Confederate flag represented the South. What is the difference in Allen Central having a Rebel Flag and East Ridge being called the "Warriors"? Isnt that making fun of Native Americans?
It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It is the size of the fight in the dog.

A "Warrior" has nothing to do with a Native American it just means a fighter, All im saying is that it shouldnt be allowed to be flying in schools but im not saying that David shouldnt play them because of that.

Then why do they do the tomahawk chop??? Why do they call their gymnasium the "reservation"??? Why do they have a teepee in one corner of the gym??? Seems like some Native American references to me.

That just grand, Ned gets JANET ELECTED TO THE HIGH COURT AND NOW THIS SXXX.
12-21-2006, 07:48 PM
AC didnt really need to play David anyway because AC's middle school probably could have beat them to...

They all cry foul when they see the REBEL FLAG, maybe they should be the ones to rename the A.C. mascot... What would Mickey Mouse and Pillersdorf change the mascot to?? Would it be the Mousketeers or the St. Bernards. Anyone else have any thoughts?? Maybe we can compile them all and send them off to the lawyer buddies who find a thrill in downgrading the school mascot and the history behind it.
Mickey McGuire is only stirring the pot so that he can leave a mess for the rest of the board and the school to clean up because as we all know he has been ousted from office. Some people can't seem to keep their noses out of others business.. Mickey, why don't you worry about your district and leave others alone!!

what does the Cival war have to do with playing a game of basketball? I Belive AC should hang a rebal flag for one reason, the rebal flag wasnt the offical flag of the south do some reserch.

Yes we are called the Warriors, were not making fun of native americans in anyway. We do not have an offical name for the gym, and we have tooken the teepee down. The reason we are called the warriors is because our part of eastren KY is mostely populated by native american decent. And for real i dont understand why we are taking about east ridge in this thread anways, this threat is about AC and david.
12-21-2006, 08:32 PM
Kinda crazy,David should play them where they had a contact
12-21-2006, 08:32 PM
If you think that the Civil War was over slavery...youre wrong!....There were many different thing that had a greater impact on the Civil War than slavery.

In response to Pillarsdorf's refusal to play the ballgame against A.C. and his false alligations about the waving of any flags at any player, I must say that the whole ordeal is obsurd. Specifically the part about the waving of any flags at any players which is a bald face lie!! I was at the game in question last year, and I do not recall any flags being waved or any black players on the David school's basketball team.
Why do these lawyers contiue to stir touble for this area?? Is it for publicity?? We are already perceived as being ignorant hillbillies. Why must these lies be plastured all over the press??

Okay...
1. I believe the Civil War was begun over "States Rights" issues. (but ask J.R. VanHoose because he knows way more about the CW than anyone on BGR)
2. Was someone trying to imply that Mickey Mouse and Mickey McGuire are one and the same?
3. Was someone trying to imply that Ned Pillarsdorf resembles a St. Bernard?
4. I believe someone was just trying to make an analogy somewhere in this thread and others have taken the ball and run with it!
5. If ER chose to use the Warrior as their mascot, I am sure it was because they respected the Native Americans rather than trying to poke fun @ them. I would say this is sorta how AC came by its mascot as well.
6. Maybe this was something to bring out more of a crowd when they do play ball.
7. I don't see David breaking a contract.
8. The folks from AC must have respected the traits of the Rebels, in that, they were not afraid to fight for what they believed in and so forth..... I doubt very seriously if there is one single person in the AC school district, who upholds any of the tertiary issues of the Civil War.
9. This would make a heck of a tee-shirt fundraiser though!!!! The possibilities of slogans are limitless!
10. I have thoroughly enjoy this thread.... most likely because of how the topic was hijacked like 20 times and the spelling and thought processes were classic!

Ah if I were Allen Central I would be glad. I know it would have been an easy win but they would probably get better if they just had practice anyway. David School probably just didnt want to play the game, and wanted to get a little pub.

There once was a local lady of the evening here in town, who used to find herself arrested for plying her trade, from time-to-time. Everyone in town knew her profession, yet also knew her to be prompt on payments & never in arrears. She, at one point, found her buisness down and had to request a loan from a local bank. Later on that day after the "lady" left the business establishment, one of the loan officers ran into her on the street and asked her if she knew her name had appeared in the local newspaper just that very day in the "courthouse news".
To that, the "lady" replied, "Honey, it's always good to keep your name before the public!"
I suspect it is the same with "the Mouse & the St. Bernard"!
