nice article on Central Elementery The Central Elementary boys’ basketball team has a perfect 4-0 record on the young 2006-07 season.
Central Elementary opened the regular season at home against Inez Elementary with a 52-19 victory. Central had 12 players contribute to the scoring. Shane Hall led with 14 points, followed by Chase Blevins and Garrett Lemaster netting eight and six, respectively. Helping add to the scoring was Seaton Hall with five. B.J. Hamilton and Braxton Hensley chipped in four each while J.D. Davis, Braxton Blair, Bo Robbins, Josh Amburgy and Tyler Compton each added two and Andrew Sparks netted one.
The Eagles opened county league play against the Porter Panthers. The Eagles were led
by Shane Hall and Lemaster with 10 apiece in a 45-21 victory. Blair added nine while Hamilton netted four. Also adding to the score was Blevins and Seaton Hall with three each. Brandon Vanhoose, Davis, and Sparks each added two.
The Eagles participated in the Thanksgiving Classic hosted by the JCEAA this week. Monday’s game against Pikeville, held at W.R. Castle Elementary, was a battle that could not be settled in regulation play. The Eagles held just a two-point lead at the half and were outscored in the third quarter, giving Pikeville the lead. The teams gave a strong effort but still neither could pull out the victory, leaving the score tied at 39 at the end of regulation. The Eagles outscored the Panthers 11-4 in overtime to pull out
a hard-fought 50-43 victory. Leading the way for the Eagles was Blair with 16, followed by Shane Hall and Lemaster with 12. Blevins added eight and Amburgy chipped in two.
The Eagles continued with a 40-17 victory over Salyersville Grade School on Tuesday at Highland Elementary in the final night of the classic. The Eagles were led by Blair with nine points and Lemaster with six. Davis netted five; Blevins, Amburgy, Shane and Seaton Hall all added four. Robbins and Hensley chipped in two each.
JCEAA league play resumes after the Thanksgiving break on Monday, Nov. 27, with the Eagles traveling to W.R. Castle.
