Good win for Colonels. 33 fouls in second half. Very rough, physical game. Colonels didn't back down and came away with a big win.

Sasko and Woods were warriors tonight...

Grubb was outstanding for South but Whitley just plays hard and gets after it. Ton of energy and Sasko kid is all bruise and floor burn. Kid dives on every lose ball. He worked his butt off against South's big kid. Probably giving up at least 60 pounds. Never backed down. Just kept going back for more. Super athletic with no fear.

Whitley played very sound steady fundamental basketball they are very capable of beating any team in the 13. And it would not be an upset. Whitley and Williamsburg are heading for A train wreck, I hope the adults on both sides pull for their team with all they have but I also want them to appreciate what A great bunch of youngsters we have in Whitley and the Burg We have so much to be proud of, the harder they play to win, both teams, is an example of all that we trained them to be. I know those children on both sides they know and respect each other, We as parents know and respect each other the same way. I for one dread to go to the game, not for reasons you would think. but, I love those kids on both sides I can't stand to see EITHER team suffer defeat.

Both Whitley and Williamsburg are so much alike, they both have good athletes they both have speed, What they have that A lot of teams don't have is something that you can't coach and you can't teach. they have A burning desire to WIN, and they don't and will not quit, I cannot pick A winner this game will be close very close.

Whitley plays as hard as any team you will ever play against. Grubb put on a show tonite but without souths big taylor and missing 21fts on the nite killed any chance of winning. both teams played hard. South was in so much foul trouble their jv played most of the game and when allen fouled out with 4 min to go and south leading by 4 it went down hill from there.
01-24-2015, 06:49 AM
Taylor didn't play in this game correct. ....
01-24-2015, 07:08 AM
no taylor did not play
01-24-2015, 07:24 AM
Hard to believe South had a five point lead in 4th qtr with 21 missed free throws and without the big kid, Taylor, playing tonight. Whitley flat out gets after you on D though. Credit to them for playing very hard.

Everyone knew after the last Whitley- South Laurel match-up that tonight's game would be heated to say the least! But tonight's showing proved to be an even worse display of rudeness. I was impressed by the speed and the athleticism of WC' s Levi Barton. The kid really knows how to hustle!!! Whitley has several fast, talented players! I look forward to watching them next week!
01-24-2015, 03:01 PM
South was 13-32 from the line and still had the lead with with 4 min to go when allen fouled out.
01-24-2015, 03:57 PM
Hope Allen has a quick recovery. He is very hard to handle in the middle.
01-24-2015, 04:16 PM
Allen is not the one out. He playing with a twisted ankle but Caleb Taylor is the one out.
01-24-2015, 04:56 PM
Taylor is in this game the outcome is to south no doubt......whitley plays hard but no answer for the big guy they proved that in their first meeting...sounds like if they hit their free throws they win the anyway which is very impressive
01-24-2015, 04:57 PM
I don't think people out with injurys or sickness would have changed the outcome, sometimes we use those things just to get relief, but we don't know that, that would have changed the W or L in any way. Just like the win the jackets had they played Bville early in the season, Bville had 2 starters out. Wburg won. Both starters were back the last game game and we still found A way to win. I think A good team has to have more than players ability and coaching, they must have, The burning FIRE to win.

NO DOUBT!!!! I do think the FACT that Whitley hit 13 of 52 from the field and 3 of 15 3"s had a lot to do with outcome of the 1st game.
01-24-2015, 05:38 PM
South healthy, on a neutral floor,Whitley gets the L. And that is the bottom line...
01-24-2015, 06:08 PM
C'mon now topnotch! We're not just talking about a person out with illness\injury here. We are talking about a game changing, starting big man, out with an injury! Last meeting Whitley got beat by at least 19 with this said player. I would say Caleb Taylor probably had those 19 points,or more! Bottom line is that just because a team(like B-ville,for instance) is missing a said starter or two, doesn't mean that those two said starters, are game changers! There are different levels of starters, and players, just like there are different levels of persons, and people. And referees.....and coaches....and etc....and so on...and so forth.... if you smell what I'm cooking?
01-24-2015, 06:24 PM
Whitley's refuse to lose attitude was the difference in this one.
01-24-2015, 06:33 PM
lol south missing 21 fts was the diff. whitley does play hard but even without taylor whitley didnt win south gave it to them
01-24-2015, 06:45 PM
Maybe a little of that...maybe a lot of south's multitude of unforced turnovers, big boy out/hurt, 20 + missed free throws, and of course zac allen fouling out, with four minutes, and some change left to play, certainly didn't help south's cause, but most definitely contributed to whitley's cause,...cause stone cold said so!

Over 20 turnovers too. I think South threw the game.
01-24-2015, 07:28 PM
You use the excuse that missing 21 free throws cost you the game....may very well be, but you dismiss the fact that Whitley missed shots (21-53) from the field in the first game.
You can't have it both ways.....
Whitley should have won by 20 or 25. They missed a ton of shots around the rim last night, bottom line Whitley out hustled, out coached and out played South Laurel. Had coach Davis not spent more that half of every time out in the officials ears and spent more time coaching he might have gotten a better outcome. I will say that it worked though...at one point it was 9 fouls on Whitley and 1 on South.....if he coached as well as he worked officials he would have won.
You know how I know this??? Look at the dang score board....LOL

In hindsight it is cleat that they did throw the game 20+ turnovers, missing 21 free throws...No team as great as South could play that bad without doing it on purpose.
01-24-2015, 07:31 PM
District will settle it all......
01-24-2015, 07:51 PM
I never said a word about the first game. boy you whitley guys get in a tussle easy. I was just stating what I say last nite. south played just as hard as whitley co did. I never said anything about over 20 turnovers cause whitley forced alot of those to happen they play hard. Whitley did not force south into shooting 13-34 from the line though..lol
