Rajon Rondo traded to Mavericks
#1
The Boston Celtics are in the process of finalizing a deal to send Rajon Rondo to the Dallas Mavericks, according to league sources.

Sources tell ESPN.com that the Celtics and the Mavericks have an agreement in principle to send the All-Star point guard to Dallas for Brandan Wright, Jae Crowder, Jameer Nelson and a future first- and second-round draft pick.

The possibility exists that other players will be added to the final deal, but Rondo to the Mavericks is expected to be completed by the end of the night.

A source indicated that a "deal is on course to happen tonight."

Rondo would join Dirk Nowitzki, Monta Ellis, Tyson Chandler and Chandler Parsons in a high-octane starting five.

Rondo is in the final year of his contract. Rondo has left little doubt in recent months that he intends to test the market as a free agent in July. However, sources say Dallas, amid growing concern about its point guard play and sensing the opportunity to acquire a topflight player it has coveted for some time, is confident it could win over Rondo for the long term.

The Mavericks were one of several teams to express interest in Rondo. The Celtics also had talked to teams such as the Sacramento Kings, New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets about a potential deal, according to sources.

Does the addition of Rondo make the Mavs a contender for the championship?

My favorite player traded from my favorite team...Then I find out that my most hated player in Michael Vick, dream is to play for the Redskins in which I am sure they'll pursue. Then I get home and get the Jon Lester issue of Sports Illustrated...I'm a diehard Red Sox fan. So needless to say, I took a beating from the sports world yesterday!

Rondo helps them tremendously but where will Ellis fit into this now?

What do you mean? Ellis is more of a SG. He'll be fine.

One of the best overall starting 5s since the Pistons 9-10 years ago

Well he's listed as a point guard usually does run point, but they probably will move him to SG. He's more of a scorer either way.

No he isn't and no he doesn't... He played SOME PG at Golden State but that stopped when they drafted Curry. He's played and started at shooting guard since being in Dallas.

Rondo trying to get Josh Smith in Dallas now too. Lot of offense but a lot of baggage comes with him too. Maybe veterans could settle him down, if they could that would be one tough team to defend.
