Where is the best place to watch a playoff game?
11-05-2006, 01:40 AM
Belfry!
11-05-2006, 01:42 AM
I would imagine the old Vipperman stadium for places around here to watch.....
Though back in 04 when the 1A regional championship was at Pikeville, and the Panthers and Jackets took it into OT, that had to be the largest and loudest crowd I'd ever been around for a high school game, it was amazing

Just hate games on turf!

Papa John's Cardinal Stadium

Vipperman Stadium, Pburg and Belfry fans are to spread out at CAM. And I hate that!

Without a doubt I believe the best atmosphere is at JCHS. If you haven't been there during the playoffs than you have no idea! It is a crazy show to say the least. If you haven't been there than you need to make the trip this friday and watch.

You obviously haven't been to a Prestonsburg/Belfry game at Vipperman. I've been to a lot of football games, including college, and it's definitely the best atmosphere I've ever been around.

Russell

Belfry. But I would say Russell also when we played them last year the atmosphere was wild.

Obviously in a thread like this you are going to be biased to your local school. I went and watched Belfry and SC last year in the regional finals and was not impressed. I mean the facility is beautiful and state of the art but the visitors set half a mile away from you.
I am very partial to the atmosphere at JCHS. The entrance is one of a kind and I have yet to see one to match it. Friday nights are definately exciting in Johnson County and the game never gets boring with all the One liners between plays.

Belfry has a great facility and by far has one of the greatest atmospheres at the CAM. And I cant wait to go see P-burg play them this coming friday, its going to be electric!

IMO nothing beats "Death Valley" at the old Vipperman Stadium. Come November at Belfry, there was always a sea of red packing those old concrete bleachers, not to mention a very high level of play on the field. Belfry has always been such a classy place to watch high school football.

Vipperman WAS. Cam is a fabulous facility, but I'm not sure it has the "character" that Vipperman accumulated over the years.

I have to say Russell but I would also have to say Ashland at Putnam Stadium is just a good atmosphere.

Seriously it has to be Vipperman..
That was the greatest atmosphere..
The last Belfry/Prestonsburg playoff game, IT WAS CRAZY
Every seat filled, every walkway with people standing, i would estimate about 100 people sitting on the hillside.. it was crazy...

Belfry v Pburg in 04 was one of the best experiences in my life. I was a fan! I just thought it was a testiment to the small mountain communites getting behind their team.
I hope that everyone comes out this week and remembers that the upcoming game represents something to be proud in and every fan enjoys it to the last moment.
This is the last game for AWHILE folks! Lets make it one to remember, and lets cheer on our teams to the end!

From what I hear, it was proably one of the biggest atmosphiric games in the mountains ever, can anyone personally say they've been to a game with a better atmosphere?
Oh I think it would be a great idea that everytime P-burg has to travel to play Belfry, they play the game at Vipperman, or any big regular/post season game for that matter lol sounds like it would probly bring in more money and give a better experience for the fans and such, being so close and all on the stone stands

I was at the Pburg/Belfry game in the playoffs two years ago and the atmosphere was AMAZING. The Apple Bowl at JC last year was CRAZY so I can imagine what it's like in the playoffs, can't to go out there friday when they play Ashland.

I will say this
I was at the UK/Georgia game this past Saturday and I can honestly say the 03 and 04 Prestonsburg/Belfry games had the SAME FEEL!
It was just as electric, but more intimate. I bleed blue, and I would have still trade that UK win for an oppurtunity to relive those Belfry/Pburg games. I was freakin awesome!

Many places come to mind. Belfry, Russell, Ashland, Johnson Central, Prestonsburg, Pikeville, just to name a few. All of these places have good game and playoff atmospheres.

One word answers this...
VIPERMAN
I'd give up a lot to have one more shot at Belfry there.

I love Playoffs, it really doesn't matter to me, where the game is played, BELFRY brings it. just looking into any stands at The ANGRY RED, is a feeling like no other. Vipperman was great, and I am sure once Cam, has a few seasons uner it's belt, it will have that old home feeling also, but as long as we have OUR fans, it's an atmosphere like no other!

Papa Johns. When Belfry beat Etown and wont he first state title. Belfry fans stayed and cheered forever. That was one of the happiest moments of my lfie. I had tears rolling down my eyes. It was simply amazing. Ive beent o some big games but never nothing like that.
As far as high school the old vipperman field. It was great especialy the Belfry Pburg game. I love the old stadium though and I wouldnt trade it if I could. One big reason is my papaw is 84 years old he couldnt walk enuff to go to Vipperman but hes at every game at CAM and that is special to me. Its not the same atmosphere especialy the first game but I say Firday it will be very electric. Maybe not Vipperman but one thing I will like is field conditions will not determain the game the teams will. I really do enjoy watching games at CAM.
