Phil Russell Out As Lynn Camp Coach
#1
"I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone associated with the Lynn Camp Football Program and the opportunities my family and I were given these past 2 1/2 seasons. I was terminated today from my position as Head Football Coach and will continue to teach and support Lynn Camp Schools. Good Luck to everyone the rest of the 2014 season and God Bless!"

I wasn't acting like the coach. I copied that from what he posted on the Lynn Camp Football page. That's why there are quotation marks around the quote. Guess they didn't teach that at Leslie county.

I have to have feelings for that situation, I truly feel sad and hope that coach Russell will come out of this with even greater opportunities, Thanks coach Russell and good luck and good fortune for you and your family.

Good luck coach Russell, I have a lot of respect for you and what you tried to accomplish in a bad situation. Always positive and respectful sometimes wins and loses over shadow life lessons and compassion for the kids.

Not surprising. From every single word on here and around town, kids simply didn't want to play for him. Since Mitchell got the boot, that team has had non stop problems. We still never got an answer as to why Reid left after only being there a short time.

I guess Willard takes over? I don't know who else would.
#10
Do you try to hire now or just waste the next 6 or 7 weeks?
#11
You have got to be kidding me?! What the hell is wrong with these administrators?

This isn't college or the NFL.

I got news for ya everybody..if you thought you saw a lot of openings this offseason (which, it was actually on par with the last five), then you haven't seen anything yet.

Guys are getting smart and getting the hell out of what I've heard referred to as the 'Most Overrated Job on the planet'.

Was a reason given why he was removed mid-season? That doesn't happen often.

Lynn Camp was in a downward spiral long before he got there and haven't had a winning season since 2005. They have not been getting many players from either Knox Central or Corbin, which has contributed to the problem. A very tough job for anyone.

Doesn't surprise me much either. They they have played knew something was going to change just thought it wouldn't happen until after the season.

Yep it's Willard.

A decision was made Tuesday by Knox County Schools Superintendent Kelly Sprinkles, Lynn Camp High School Principal Anthony Pennington and Lynn Camp Athletic Director Danny Green to relieve Phil Russell from his duties as head coach of the Lynn Camp Wildcats football program.
“We just decided to go in a different direction,” said Green when asked about the move. “We have appointed coaches Willard Farris and Alan Harris to share in the head coaching duties at Lynn Camp until the end of this season. At that time we will begin our search for a new full-time head coach.”

Phil is an old redhound but I am not suprised to see this coming. He get 2 asst coaches hired and would not let either 1 do any coaching. That is why Reid quit a few weeks in to the season. By no means does Lynn Camp have a bunch of talent but they should be better than what they have played.

The problem is with the administration and youth football. The last year of solid youth program was Wagner and Roskoff's 8th grade year and LC was pretty good in 07 till Roskoff went down and the wheels fell of that season. They had just beat Whitley 36-6. Next the admin would never hire anyone in school as a teacher and coach and only hired 3 in the last twenty years Mitchell was at LC and 2 of them they got rid of after a year. With out teacher/coach at all sports even elementary and middle you can not build consistency that includes basketball and baseball as well. Until the Admin wants to be committed to all sports they will never have anything at LC. I know some of you will say they need to worry more about academics and I agree that is by far the most important thing, success breeds success and if the kids have something to hold their heads high and be proud about they will not have either one. With the current admin that is in place and all the crap and problems that everyone in the community knows they have done, it will not get better athletically or academically until they are removed.

He hired PJ as full time House hunter and realtor. He will be looking for house in the Corbin, southern Whitley area so it will be a easy move to Whitley if there current situation does not work out.

This is another situation of Huelet trying to destroy sports in KnoxCo.
