Much wider margin than I thought. New field and at Ironton gave the Fighting Tigers 21 before the game started.

How long do the Ashland faithful stay behind Coach Love?

Ouch. We got to see Palladino last year at Ironton in his debut. Kid's a good RB. Baker gets all the pub, but Palladino's no slouch. Ashland is in an ugly spiral. As a JC fan, I kinda want them to get it back together because our games have been great so many times...but...

They will. Their next four games are against cream puffs. They will be 5-3 when they play your boys.
This game really wasn't as close as the final score.

You know what tcats don't bother supporting the Tomcats when they are doing well either. We don't need fair weather fans that are only there when things going well. If you do decide to post on here again why don't you change your name to the unloyal or anything not in anyway representing anything to do with Ashland. People like you are part of the reason Ashland is in the shape they are in. This is when these kids need the support of the people around them. We do not need people to turn their back on them when things aren't going well.
So there unloyal one, don't come to the games. Don't post on here. Don't even bother mentioning the Tomcats in passing. We don't need you nor do we want you if you can't be loyal.
Keep your heads up cats. You can and will get better. Come together as a team. And give all you've got every play.
Go Cats

As someone who survived 0-10 and 1-9 and 2-8 seasons...I feel this completely. Change can come, and it can come in one game and completely revolutionize the entire attitude of a town. Seen it happen in Johnson County. Twice, actually, thanks to Coaches Musick and Matney. And I don't think Coach Love is a lost cause yet. He just may still be looking for a signature win. Highlands in the playoffs would be a good start.

It's not like Ashland has been losing to lil sisters of the poor. They have lost to some good teams and beat a good Raceland team.
This Ironton team is as physical as any team they will face.

Ironton seemed average last year. What changes have they made to improve since last season? If the Ashland running backs are as good as advertised, then what is the problem with the Tomcat's offense?
09-20-2014, 03:15 PM
I think Ironton just went back to old school Ironton football and stop trying to hit the homerun ball every time. They are just going to run it down your throat until you do something to stop it. I think Ashland is having issues with the offense primarily. You got 2 OCs and a HC that seemingly has no hand what so ever in the offense. Nowhere near the Ashland team I anticipated.

It is compassionate of you to be a bit of a cheerleader to boost the feelings of the maroon faithful. However, your last sentence indicates that you may have been better served if you had not enjoyed that last rum and coke. It clearly moved you from the sublime to the ridiculous.

This is not last years Ironton team. They are much more physical than a year ago. What they did was got healthy, got a year older and really hit the weight room.
Ashlands Running backs are also not as good as advertised. And their line play is just poor.

Like you, I have not been impressed with Baker. I have seen him in two games, both against Raceland, I do not understand the hype. He does not run hard and he goes down on first contact.

I don't think their RBs are an issue. They haven't had many negative plays it just seems like they have a bunch of 1-3 yard plays. If you can't get to the lBs then that's on the linemen. It seems like there's a bunch of weak kids upfront who can't move anyone and can't stay on second level blocks.
To have a line that bad and still have over 100 yards rushing a majority of the time, it's pretty obvious that the backs are above average.
The problem in my opinion is on the offensive and defensive lines and the play of #7.

Throw the Wheelersburg game out and Ironton has a very good team by Irontons standards. Nothing to be ashamed of by getting beat. Baker is a good back but has no talent on the line blocking for him.

I found the game footage of the Ashland,Ironton game here if anyone wants to watch.

If I was Ashland I would be going after Dudley Hilton ,
09-20-2014, 10:08 PM
You think if Ashland played 4 or 5 man front they could of stop the run game ?
09-20-2014, 10:38 PM
Baker is an excellent back, and I have always thought he worked hard. But if he is getting hit in the backfield or can barely get to the line before he is already getting wrapped up, not a lot he can do. And Ironton looks to be improving week to week, and they are a big, physical team. Not a lot of shame losing to them on their field but have to figure out a way to open up this offense more.

Good thing they didn't play NCC or things would be even worse in Ashland.

I wish ironton would keep the series with jchs loved the game ,

line play is the worst I've seen at Ashland for as long as I can remember. On both sides of the ball
