Early in the contest one could tell these teams were evenly matched this season.
With 10:06 left in the opening quarter Brandon Moore would haul in a pass from Spencer price on a early big third down play., making a nice defensive play after the catch was DJ Clingham, who stuffed Moore and forced a punt.
Luke Sharrock, the starting QB for Clark County showed very early he is a dangerous runner
With 9:14 showing on the clock in the opening quarter Sharrock would scramble for a nice gain to the Vikings forty four yard line.
At the 9:03 mark of the ping quarter Shawn Willhite made a nifty run and hauling in a pass and on the play Rowan County committed a big fifteen yard penalty.
Luke Sharrock would score on a nice twenty seven yard run, with 7:49 left in the first quarter. The point after I believe was kicked by Cody Pinson making the score, 7-0 Clark County.
The drive lasted five plays and totaled 59 yards.
The score board malfunctioned for a bit, so the next series of plays have no time with them. All occurred in the first quarter.
Rowan County nearly tied it up when Dustin Jones had a pick six in his hands but could not complete the pick.
Jeffery Masters, a 5-10 225 pound powerful running back picked up a chunk of yards on a nice run.
Clingham would pick off a bad pass from Spencer Price and take it thirty seven yards down to the Vikings twenty eight.
The scoreboard was fixed and with 1:32 left in the quarter Sharrock took off for a thirteen yard gain.
Just five seconds into the 2nd quarter Clark County score their 2nd touchdown of the game.
This one came on a two yard run by, Josiah Israel. The point after by, Logan Blankenship increased the Clark County lead to, 14-0. The drive again lasted five plays and totaled twenty eight yards.
With 10:18 left in the half Ohmante Jenkins and teammate Brandon Barber put a big hit on Price not only causing a ten yard loss, but the hit knocked Price out of the game. Price looked to have injured his right knee and was later on the side line using crutches. Hopefully this young Sophomore will recover quickly and get back on the field.
Masters would once again show pure power on a run with 7:48 left in the half, when he plowed to a twenty three yard gain. Masters at times on some level reminded me of former Ohio State great fullback Pete Johnson.
6:21 showed on the clock with the Vikings facing a third and three. Kyle Bowling would have his number called and he would respond with a six yard gain as he darted to his left.
With Devin Harvey, a running back inserted into the quarterback slot the Vikings had been able to work the ball to the Cardinals two yard line. From there Bowling would use his offensive line to hit pay dirt. After the point after kick by, Adam Duff this was a, 14-7 game with 4:58 left in the half.
Luck was on the side of the Vikings with 3:51 left in the half. That's when Masters picked up a fumble and managed to pick up fourteen yards and kept the drive alive.
Helvey playing quarterback acted like a running back and picked up eighteen yards on a nice run with,22.5 seconds left in the half.
With 11.8 seconds left in the half, Helvey would get sacked by Jenkins.
Just a Sophomore Jenkins looks to be a star in the making.
The second half kick off was picked up around the five yard line by the Cardinals,Jacob Wilson and he took it all the way to the Vikings forty four yard line.
Sharrock would go fifty yards for what appeared another Cardinal touchdown with 6:09 left in the third, but a holding penalty cancelled out the score.
Sharrock would pick up 18 yards with a nice run with 2:14 showing on the third quarter clock. The play gave the Cardinals a first and goal at the three.
After a hiccup by the Cardinals that took the ball back to the thirteen yard line, Sharrock took the ball the distance for a big score. The point after by Blankenship made this a, 21-7 game, with 1:53 left in the third.
Clark would get a sack by Elijah Ferris on Helvey, with 7:30 left in the game.
Then with 6:27 left the Cardinals muffed a punt and the Vikings came out of the pile with the ball.
