Raceland 55 West Carter 25 final

Varsity
Raceland 55
West Carter 19

West Carter 6
Raceland 0

Varsity looked dismal in the 1st 5 minutes. Messer and Young both took snaps under center. Imo, Young is the clear cut better QB, stroger runner, has better arm strength AND if Messer is at QB he isnt at WR. After the first series, Racelands offense and defense settled down. Young mistakes in actuallity, stalled a few drives. Here's my take on the offense:

1. Young has to start out better and not lock in on one WR. Nerves had him over throwing guys in the first series. He played with more control in the 2nd series and it paid off. Someone correct me if I am wrong but I think he had 3 TDs of 40+ to Maverick Dixon and a 40+ catch and run to Messer. Id say Youg finished with around 225 passing 4 TDs and probably 30 on the ground and 1 TD.

2. Messer and Dixon look great at WR. Dixon has increased his speed and looks great running his routes. Messer is Messer, crazy atheletic and probably has a 40+" verticle to go along with a 6'4" frame. More jump balls need to go his way in the redzone.

3. The run game shocked me! Started out bleak, but ten Christian, Snyder, and Young got into synch and looked pretty good. Our Oline gave Young plenty of time and looked really well when they pulled and blocked passed the 1st level very well. Young had 1 rushing TD, Christian had 2 and Snyder had. 1.

4. Defense. Gave up 19 pts, 1 was a busted play of 97 yds when Seth Holbrook didnt fill the gap on a DT stunt. The 2nd TD was simply the LB didnt make the tackle, the JV gave up a hail mary td towards the end. Other than the busted plays, Raceland defense was solid.

5. Special Teams...just needs work. Too much to say here.

Over all we played OKAY. Still very young. But the skill guys did their jobs and took care of business. The line looked better than I expected. Young had plenty of time and the backs had enough seems to work with. Both out OL and DL are MUCH faster than last year.

In regaurds to WC, they have some nice speed in the backfield. I can see them winning someball games this year.

here is a score by score update I found

Maverick Dixon’s TD catch from Josh Young puts Raceland up 7-0 9:20 left 1Q.

Braden Brown with the 19-yard QB keeper. West Carter and Raceland tied 6-6 4:00 left 1Q

Young responds with a 12 yard score of his own. Raceland leads West Carter 12-6 3:18 left 1Q.

Young to Dixon for a 41-yard touchdown. Raceland leads West Carter 19-6 4:17 left 2Q.

Carson Christian’s one yard plunge opens game up to 27-6 over West Carter just before halftime.

Brown has shook off any signs of rust. 93 yards on the keeper to get Comets within two touchdowns at 27-13 11:44 left 3Q.

Rams answer with a Young to Messer 69-yard touchdown pass. Raceland leads West Carter 33-13 11:19 left 3Q.

Bailey Walker on a two-yard touchdown. Raceland now leads 39-13 over West Carter 1:38 left 3Q.

Richard McGlone with a big kickoff return for a TD. West back within 20 at 39-19 1:24 left 3Q.

Young to Dixon again for another touchdown hookup. Raceland leads 47-19 1:00 left 3Q.

Nathaniel Davidson with a fumble return for a touchdown. Raceland leads West Carter 55-19 :38 seconds left 3Q.

26 yd TD pass from Ethan brown to Chris Johnson

^^sounds about right. Correction on my post: Snyder and Christian bothhad long runs that were caught from behind or knocked out of bounds.

West was horrible.
#6
East is worse.
#7
West has some speed. Just nithing upfront

The Rams skill guys are good but the oline did not really show me a lot....I think when they come up to a older and physical team they will have trouble....I left at half time on the Rams game so I really cant say if they got better in one quarter or not. West was the 4th best team has some speed as Scotty said and that was it....The Rams should have a running clock when they play East Carter...

The line play became more and more solid as the game went on. They still hae a ways to go, but we are better upfront than I anticipated us being at this point in the season. We will see just where we stand a week from this Friday at Putnam Stadium. Once our line gets a few kinks worked out, we should be right in the thick of things for another regional title and chance at going to Bowling Green.
