Boy, would I like to comment about these rumors, but here is what I can say, there needs to be a change on the hill, a lot of kids talking about leaving the school. Not happy with coaches, and principal. I've heard with my own 2 ears on how disappointed the kids are with things up there...Time will tell if any leave.

Not true, first of all Jim Hicks has "principles" that would not want to get preferential treatment for his wife, and second, his wife is an excellent teacher that would not need any favors from her "principal" to do a good job. Coach Hicks is a Christian man that does what is best for the kids at this school.

It's a sad commentary when parents coddle their kids to the point "if you don't like the coach, we'll leave". Good luck to those kids when they get into the real world and have a boss they don't like.

I have heard of 5 leaving, I won't name them but can say where I have heard them going:
2 to Pikeville, 1 to Pike Central, 1 Knott Central, 1 Shelby Valley(Which has already enrolled there)

If these 5 all leave then what teams ER has now will be hurting.

Fine!?!? Contender!?!? With all of the players leaving, who will be left to contend with? If McCoy coaches next year, it will be somewhere other than East Ridge, he won't stay without any talent left.

Kids want to be a part of a winning program. If you are a great football player you may want to go to Pikeville or Belfry. If it is basketball, you may want to play at Shelby Valley, at least for the last 10 years or so. East Ridge just doesn't have the coach with integrity to make it a top program in the region year after year. McCoy needs to go! I realized that at the district tournament listening to his foul language toward his players. No Pike County School employee should ever talk like that to kids no matter if you are Randy McCoy.

It's my personal opinion that kids are too sheltered from discipline. You parents don't want your kids to ever be corrected or yelled at and you want em all to get a trophy at the end of the year.

I don't know exactly what was said but I'll never find myself in the position as a parent where someone would lose their job for swearing at my kid.

I mentioned that 2 of ER's players had been playing on a Pikeville team and were being wooed about a month ago. Kids talk other kids into doing this a lot of the time. The days of a team being all home boys are gone. Just look at Cordia last year. Pikeville may consist of COUNTY boys entirely this year. A

Nothing official yet. We will just have to wait and see who they add to Huffman and Meade, and May.
