Don't crown the 57th yet.

2 of the last 4 have been won by the Panthers of Pikeville & only 1 57th district champ has won region during this time. Belfry has been in the championship game 2 of these 4 years also - even though they have not won it YET.

He wasn't talking about the last 4 years...he was talking about this year.

Read BGR for 2013, 2012, 2011 & 2010 & you will see the same conversations - "57th is so much better" - same story, different year

I just don't think Belfry has the pitchers this year. They have a nice team. LC may prevail, due to team depth.

The winner and runner up of the 57th will also be the championship game of the region. Nobody else in the region has been much competition for the top 3 of the 57th.

With Jacob Hamilton now healthy and pitching the Panthers become a contender.

The young Panthers have been playing well of late winning 5 of 6.

The championship of region all depends on the draw. The 57th has pitching depth and the weather will play a factor in number of days rest for teams best.

With Jake on the mound they could beat anyone.

BUT, Their last 8 wins have been against teams with a combined record of 57-105.

at first look someone may say that lawrence is slumping down the stretch and that paintsville and central are the frontrunners. both those teams deserve credit. but if you look at the last 8 games lc has played you will see that the 6 losses were against teams that will be in direct competition for their region/state titles. east carter, boyd county, hazard, and johnson central in kentucky. logan west virginia is one of the best AAA teams in their state and have a team good enough to win a title over there. the only loss that wasn't competitive was logan.

if lawrence can learn from the last 8 games against good competition and grow to not make the same mistakes over and again, they will be right there. but of course tuesday will be a huge game. playing on the road and it being on the home team's field will be difficult. although lawrence played one of their best games there earlier in an 11-4 victory against paintsville.

it will be a fun tourney. johnson central shouldn't be feeling comfortable either. sheldon clark beat them this time last year if you recall.
