2015-18 Football Alignment
#1
Draft Alignment has been approved but not been made public yet.
#2
Do you have any info on Sheldon Clark's request to move to 2A? I am assuming that it was denied but you never know.
#3
Hasn't been talked about yet. Fort Knox has been approved to drop to 1A
#4
I wonder how that will affect South Floyd...there are now 33 schools in class 1A. I know the Raiders were mentioned in the notes, concerning the upcoming consolidation.

When is that consolidation with Allen Central scheduled to take place?
& will they retain the AC name or do a new school?

Good for them. That needed to happen. The base is supposed to lose a couple thousand soldiers/military personnel this summer that will effect their overall enrollment by 100+ kids...it goes without saying that 50% of those will be boys, which will slide FK comfortably within 1A.

They have a good coach in placed, Brandon Combs, who returned for his 2nd stint at FK this year.

They'll do well in Class A. I think this will make them a .500 team or better year in year out. Needed.
#7
I have not heard a projected timetable. However, the KHSAA apparently expects it to happen within the next 5 years.

I'm told draft football alignment for 2015-18 seasons should be released by 4 p.m. Stay tuned ...

It's 4:24..... I'm dying here SK

Maybe he meant Central Time. Since that would make sure that all the schools in the state have dismissed for the day.

How does Paintsville end up in Ashland with Pikeville and south Floyd right here at home ?
#14
Looks pretty good to me. Shocked that Whitley was taken out of our district.

My Priorities are:
1)God
2)Family
3)Cougar Athletics!

Everything else doesn't matter![/COLOR]

Collins was placed exactly where I expected them to be. Replacing Atherton and Waggener with Franklin County should make the district much more competitive. The addition of John Hardin also makes Region 2 much stronger than it is right now.
#16
It will be awesome to hopefully see Bell County and Belfry renewing their rivalry. They had great games in the 90s!
#17
I imagine that it could be tough to fill 8 games outside the district. That could be a scheduling nightmare for Paintsville, Raceland and Fairview.

The same thing I was thinking khsgameknight

-Sad to see the Raceland/Pikeville postseason rivalry come to a close. That had potential to be a great rivalry. Also, will be weird focusing on the W'Burg district now instead of the NEKY district.

-Now we shift back to more of what we were used to in the mid-00's. The Pikeville/Hazard games will be HUGE.

-Barring Beechwood returning to their juggernaut form, Class A has serious potential, as does AAA, to be highly intriguing most years.

Glad to see pikeville not have a walk in the park for district. Also glad to see east ridge back in district.
#22
Guys, remember this is just a DRAFT, won't be approved until July, schools can submit surveys on this and try and get put in another district.
#23
If Raceland keeps their momentum post Maynard the new alignment gives them a paved road to the semifinals all 4 years. Don't see anyone else even giving them a fight.
#24
Proposed Class 5A
District 1 – Apollo, Christian County, Graves County, Marshall County, Owensboro
District 2 – Barren County, Bowling Green, Grayson County, Greenwood
District 3 – Bullitt Central, Bullitt East, Nelson County, North Bullitt, Oldham County, South Oldham
District 4 – Atherton, Doss, Fairdale, Fern Creek, Iroquois, Southern
District 5 – Covington Catholic, Dixie Heights, Grant County, Highlands
District 6 – Anderson County, Madison Southern, Montgomery County, Shelby County, Woodford County
District 7 – Lincoln County, Pulaski County, South Laurel, Southwestern, Whitley County
District 8 – Harlan County, Letcher County Central, North Laurel, Perry County Central

wow, I honestly didn't think Whitley would move. It seems they flipped Whitley and North.
Now North will undoubtedly petition to stay in the same district as South and I could see the two flipping back, but to be honest, if I were Whitley id vote to stay put for 2015-2018.
I would be happy with this.

As I predicted, Madison Southern has been moved to fill the need for another team in district 6. That was affected big time when Highlands and Cov Cath decided to go where they wanted to.

In the end, I think Whitley and North will end up flipping back due to the request of both, however, I hope it doesn't. Id much rather drive to Laurel County and Pulaski County than Harlan and Perry.

I also see why Conner and Cooper decided to go to 6A. That completely screwed that class up. Only a three team district? I know it was that way since the beginning in 6A with one district, but its still ridiculous.
#25

District 1 – Crittenden County, Fulton City, Fulton County, Russellville
District 2 – Berea, Bethlehem, Campbellsville, Caverna, Fort Knox

District 4 – Beechwood, Bellevue, Dayton, Ludlow
District 5 – Bishop Brossart, Bracken County, Nicholas County, Paris
District 6 – Fairview, Paintsville, Raceland
District 7 – Harlan, Lynn Camp, Pineville, Williamsburg
District 8 – Hazard, Jenkins, Phelps, Pikeville, South Floyd

5th place team from District 8 as the 4th place in District 6 for playoff brackets
5th place team from District 2 will not advance to playoffs

in that case, they should put one of the teams from District 8 in with District 6. other wise leave them be. and if they do move one of them team, I hope they will leave Hazard and Pikeville in the same District. that will be hard for Williamsburg, they will have to play Pikeville and hazard in back to back weeks. because it will be Pikeville and Hazard playing for 1st and 2nd place, and the other teams for 3rd and 4th.
#26
Proposed Class 4A
District 1 –Calloway County, Hopkins County Central, Hopkinsville, Logan County, Madisonville-North Hopkins
District 2 – Allen County-Scottsville, Franklin-Simpson, South Warren, Warren Central, Warren East
District 3 – Breckinridge County, John Hardin, Valley, Western
District 4 – Collins, Franklin County, North Oldham, Spencer County
District 5 – East Jessamine, Marion County, Mercer County, Taylor County, West Jessamine
District 6 – Clay County, Knox Central, Rockcastle County, Russell County, Wayne County
District 7 – Bourbon County, Harrison County, Holmes, Mason County, Scott
District 8 – Ashland Blazer, Boyd County, East Carter, Greenup County, Johnson Central, Rowan County

A few things sticks out... just from the eastern side (Dist. 5, 6, 7, 8)

Mason County, East Carter and Wayne County move up from 3A.
Scott, East Jessamine, West Jessamine move down from 5A.

Lexington Catholic and Boyle County move to 3A.
Highlands and Cov. Cath. move to 5A.

I'm sure there are a few more teams that are changing classes that I missed.

District 7 – Breathitt County, Estill County, Knott County Central, Morgan County, Powell County
District 8 – Bell County, Casey County, Corbin, Jackson County, McCreary Central

This might be the toughest class from Caldwell County to end of Pike County.....

2015 Class 3A state title game........
A Battle of the Killer B's............... Title Town vs. The Pond Creek Nation

Boyle County vs. Belfry

I think that Boyle will have a hard road ahead. Cant wait until there can be a match between Bell and Belfry. I think that Corbin will also have something to say about it.

The KHSAA must have something against the letter "G" when it comes to county school systems. Grant and Garrard Counties surely have a tough row to hoe district-wise. It's like that old daddy said to his young son when he threw him into the pond...."You can swim....or not, son. It's up to you."

Ain't no question that Bell County and Belfry will have some epic clashes in this new alignment.
