Tiger77 Wrote:Looks like I opened a can of worms by not knowing this guy personally. After inquiring from some others I found out as Paul Harvey says, "The Rest Of The Story". It appears that he has a problem wherever he goes or so I've heard. He has made some statements toward not only a Central adult but also a student, another situation that I have only heard. However as someone from across the creek, I will put 100% confidence in what I have been told because I personally know the ones that have told me the story. When the game was over he made advances toward the Central coaches and players which I personally witnessed which is uncalled for. If it was my family, I would have done the same as the one that confronted him. Family is something you don't mess with. Why can't an adult act like an adult. After all, it's only high school basketball.

Was he not at Paintsville for a little while too? I may be wrong on that , but thought I heard someone say that at one time.

JC played @ P-Burg in the last week of the regular season.... and JC won 84-43.

We didn't make the for trip last night's game, but I'm sure I'll hear all about it tonight.

Now to my thoughts on parents/fans/players acting stupid at HS sporting events......
The Superindendent, Principal, Athletic Director or somebody in an administrative role HAS TO STEP UP and be the bad guy from time to time. The school system's administration is responsible for their Players/Fans. No matter the age or gender of the people responsible.

Trust me, most of you know I referee HS wrestling and football... and have been doing so for 8 seasons now. And I know for a fact (because their have been some fans/players that have needed to be escorted from the gym/field for their behavior) and in every case if their was a school adminstrator present... without saying anything, THEY STEPPED UP and took responsibility of removing the player/fan that was associated with their school.

Fans are gonna be stupid.... but their has to be a "Grown Up" that keeps them in check before they DO something stupid.

Why is the administration of the school system in any way responsible for the behavior of their fans?

Last time I checked its the responsibility of law enforcement to settle down unruly fans.

As for your bolded section....
If the fans/players/parents don't respect the Superintendent, Principal or A.D., then you have more problems than some unruly fans.

As far as JC goes.... I know the players/fans/parents respect Mr. Trimble, Mr. Crum, Mr. Gamble and Mr. (Coach) McKenzie. And yes, there is some people that don't always show the respect that JC is known for. But you can bet that somebody in JC's administration will make an effort to settle the person(s) down before law enforcement has to get involved.

These are the ones that are causing the problems. Security was called on Jerry Butcher and John Derossett setting behind the scores table.

And to the other posters question:: YES Donnie Ray has been to Paintsville, then to Johnson Central and now BACK to Prestonsburg. Seems to be a great fit in Prestonsburg with those actions :lame:.

I was at this game last night sitting on the side where the benches are. A couple things that perturbed me are the congratulatory high fives given by the head coach to the player for getting not 1 but 2 intentional fouls on Hall and the Prestonsburg fans yelling “hit him harder”. I understand that hard fouls are part of the game. But a respectful coach would not condone let alone congratulate a kid on trying to hurt another player. Prestonsburg has serious discipline problems and it all starts with the head coach and his lack of knowledge and respect for the game of basketball and the kids who play the game. I also agree with Pulp Fiction, Superintendent Henry Webb and Principle Jerry Butcher needs to step in clean things up.

Not going to happen.

Mr. Webb is worried about what he can get from the BOC so that the Floyd Co. teams can look competitive in this region and Mr. Butcher is worried about football.

No way does any school outside of Prestonsburg(maybe Belfry) hire an assistant football coach to be a HC or AC for a basketball program, it simple can't work because of the time required by both.

Sad part is, they won 15 games I believe. A good coach will have to go backward to move forward if he is hired, and who is really going to step in that mess?

The players, coaches, and students...yes, I agree, the school administrators most definitely should have control and they had better in order to be successful.

But we all know that sometimes our fans do stupid things that are beyond the control of the school officials, so how can they legally/ethically control and therefore be responsible for the ones who like to show their backsides? Honestly, it would make my day to see a principal or AD drag an idiot fan from the stands by his ears but the last time I read the law that isn't acceptable. What's left? A stern scolding??

Maybe Prestonsburg should have focused more on basketball rather than trying to hurt a player. I don't think his 5 points was the deciding factor in a 52 point loss.

The sad thing this guy has been given chance after chance and its always the same story.Everyone treats him bad.He was asked to leave Paintsville and maybe we don't need to get into why he left JC.Why people continually put up with him is crazy. One thing is for sure there will be another incident with him sooner or later. For Pburg sake they had better get rid of him soon.He is a lawsuit waiting to happen.

I like Coach Ray. He is a good guy. I wasn't at the game so I don't know what happened, and I'm not going to comment on that. He was one of my coaches over twenty years ago, and I still respect him to this day. I do know this. He cares about his players and if you are going to say something to them or him, you better be ready to back it up. He is not going to take any b.s. from anyone.

1st---Congrats JC on the win. And good luck the rest of the way. Would love to see another state championship brought back to the 15th region.

2nd---Good season Blackcats. Keep working hard towards next year.

3rd---As a Prestonsburg supporter, I was somewhat embarrassed last night by the actions of SOME of our fans. I use the word "some" loosely as there are many great people from Prestonsburg. Support your team but leave the other teams KIDS alone. We are adults and should act accordingly. We are the ones who set the example for these young men and women.

Lastly---My apologies to JC and all others in attendance whom witnessed such foolishness.

Sincerely,
TRUE BLACKCAT FAITHFULS!!!

PHS coach I can speak for all the JC faithful when I say we appreciate your words. We also know how this particular person acts and understand completely that he is not a reflection on your fanbase. Heck if you all are anything like we all were you would probably prefer he wasn't a member of he fanbase. Lol any way good season for your blackcats and there are always a few nuckle heads in every crowd. But on a serious note he about let his mouth overload what his tail end could handle last night.

Congrats to JC on the win and good luck in the Championship Game.

I guess i left to quickly and missed all the post game action. I also apologize for "some" of our fans actions. I have heard different stories, so i really dont know what happend. I do know it never should.
